Smokers

This is an interesting topic. On many levels. Barrack was a pot smoker and he currently smokes cigs. Bad dog brought up another point with his youtube post. A lot of lawmakers are readily admittng past drug use. Lieberman excepted. That guy is nerdier than Dark Link.

Do you think we could be seeing pro-marijuana legislation soon? Britain's already on the bandwagon. Canada too. I'm sure Australia isn't far behind. Where's the US? Why don't people know about the compare-and-contrasting between pot and alcohol/cigarettes?

As long as we have secular leaders, we'll never see marijuana legalized.

Do you care that Barrack Obama is a smoker?
really? i am smoking my last pack of
KretekDjarum-2.jpg

i do this when i creep up to a pack a day
that takes about 6 months
so now its time for a few months off
also, i dont smoke around my mom...

I also think past drug use shouldn't be a factor in determining one's fitness for office. As long as they aren't doing it now, who cares? Are we supposed forget the last 50 years of civilization and pretend that drug use hasn't been common in mainstream America? It's just not the issue it was 30 years ago.

It is interesting how the attitude about past drug and alcohol use changes when the bad actor is Obama instead of George.

The thing about the past illegal behaviour, though, is it really shouldn't just be about it was in the past. The reason for that there are people who have been caught in some crime or another and now have a criminal record that will follow them for the rest of their life, hindering them in employment, housing, credit, education, being POTUS. Barrack, and George too, have admitted to being criminals - even though they might not have been caught doing those crimes. But, that is a discussion of another type.

LOL - which Clinton? Bill didn't inhale and Hilary - well, I don't know - did she admit to doing illegal drugs in her youth?

I would like to see people get a clean record if they've actually kept clean for 10-20 years after a criminal act - with the exception of murder, rape, and a few other crimes. At some point a person should actually be forgiven and their debt to society marked paid.

Still, it surprises me that the anti-smoking nuts aren't just bitching up a storm about him smoking. Completely opposite - nobody is talking about it, if the subject is raised it is quickly swept under the rug, excused, no big deal. I think it would be very different if it were Bush or even Hilary.
I think you may be right on that account. I didn't know the guy even smoked before reading this thread, but since Obama is offering HOPE AND CHANGE!!!!!11!!11!1!!!1!ONE, I guess he's given a free pass by the liberal smoker nuts. :shrugs:

In any case, I don't think the law about not smoking around kids is unreasonable. If adults want to smoke and subject themselves to lung cancer and emphazema, good for them, but what right does someone have to inflict that on children that can't make that choice?
