HEY remember this movie I watched it today. It did LOOK good as I said (and I see it's nominated for a visual effects Oscar and I can undrestand why) but it didn't really add up to being a good movie on the whole. It wasn't actually BAD either though! Like most of those "A NEW TWIST ON AN OLD TALE" movies end up having no redeeming qualities but this ceretainly had redeeming qualities in the visuals, SOME of the actors and the dwarves were fun. OF COURSE it took AN HOUR for them to get to the dwarves and it was getting kind of boring up to that point. Chris Hemsworth did a good job considering he had a horrible Scottish accent for some reason, Charlize Theron...well she definitely looked good. Her acting was good when she was being all sinister but less good when she was angry. Kristen Stwart I kind of feel sorry for because she's so universally hated and she was okay in this. Didn't elevate the material with her performance but was perfectly adequate really. And like I said good dwarves (but underused.) Not really recommended though unless you're forced to watch either this or something worse by a young relative.
