That's the exact same reaction I had when I posted in on FB, and people thought I was crazy for thinking the Sam Raimi movies were great (except for 3 of course).
If the other movies had never existed then it would be really exciting, but the fact that it's rebooting right from the beginning, but with a darker tone makes it seem like a hurried Nolan copycat. I LOVE the PoV sequence, though. That'll look amazing on the big screen. Not sure if I'll actually see it however.
It just looks too serious. Obviously Spider-Man has the whole tragic death of uncle Ben thing, but it's also supposed to be FUN and WISECRACKING and stuff. And do we really need his origin told again? Does anyone not know it by now?
The rooftop bit did look good but it makes me wonder if its not a scene just made for the trailer, and if it isn't I guess this means the film is going to be in 3D.
It reminds me of a shot in Avatar where you were running through the forest after Uhura. Probably my favourite 3D shot I've seen in the cinema so far, as it actually made you feel like you'd been transported to another planet.
If that Spidey vision shot is in the movie then it'll make it worth being in 3D, although the first half hour or so will probably feel a bit weird. Wearing 3D glasses just to watch family drama and a kid having a crappy time in highschool.
True, it is pretty similar. But then again, I don't know how else you'd do a PoV shot. And Spider-Man's the perfect use for it, it'd be a shame not to do it.
They probably just did it like that for the trailer because if they'd shown Spider-Man swinging around normally it would have just looked the same as the last movies.
