SO WHAT'S UP WITH THIS NEW SPIDER-MAN THING?

The new Spidey + costume is one the frint page of this month's Empire mag (my free subscription copy arrived today!) - it just looks wrong, but I am long past the point of caring about such things so long as the movie is good.

Emma Stone = HAWT.

It looks decent, but still not really that much different from the "old" movies (the ones from last decade.)

HAHA LET'S REBOOT EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE AND NEVER MAKE A NEW MOVIE AGAIN YEAH THATS A GOOD IDEA THAT WILL MAKE MONEY YEAH fuck

Maybe it'll bomb? I mean, if you've seen any of the others then this looks kind of pointless. It's just the same old story (literally, to some extent!), even if does seem fairly well done. They really should've just carried on where the others left off. It's not as if there's some amazingly, revolutionary new spin (as far as we can tell from a 2 minute trailer) that demanded the story be retold from the beginning.

It's also being released in the same summer as The Avengers AND The Dark Knight Rises, so who really cares about another super hero film when we have them?

Me too, he's the twinkiest, emo-ist Peter yet.

He even uses that moaning "I'm sorta from New York but mostly I'm a deep thinker who is misunderstood EEEK NOT IN THE FACE!" American accent that Hayden Christensen used in Shattered Glass.

Cyborg Lassie. Genetically engineered Lassie. Dead Lassie brought back to life through the use of the internet and science and orange soda to bring vengeance to the dog killing bastard who murdered him and raped his owners.

Also starring his sexy big breasted, redheaded sidekick and ninja Timmi.

I WATCHED THIS it was pretty good. Not at the TOP LEVEL superhero movies but better than like the crap ones (like Spider-Man 3!) I thought the parts with him discovering his powers was done well. Better than the Rami movies in some ways, but less wacky and comic booky. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were good and a more believable couple than Tobey and Kirsten (and they're shagging for real now so that's nice!) It was good to have a more wisecracking Spidey too.

ON THE DOWNSIDE Aunt May was underused, they tried to do the "great power/great responsibility" speech without actually saying those words (why?) and The Lizard could have done with more development as he went from "I want a new arm" to "I WANT TO MAKE ALL NEW YORK INTO LIZARDS!" pretty quickly.

Apparently the "great power" speech was never actually in the comics, which is why they didn't reproduce it this time.

I like it too, and pretty much echo your sentiments re Aunt May, might as well have had Peter living alone, plus she seems so much younger than all previous versions.

I like how the bully respected Peter and even appeared to be his friend by the end, also like how twitchy Peters head was after the accident, really made him seem more spidery.

Of course the police captain was doomed from the moment he saw him with his mask off.

Liked the crane driver helping out, and that the bad guy actually went to jail at the end, and he never did catch his uncles killer.

Seemed to avoid a lot of the clichés these sorts of films fall into.
