Hell, I haven't even seen the movie yet. I figure that's a good thing.

No, I don't. One of my dirty little secrets is that I haven't given a toss about anything Trek-related since the late 90s. It has been sort of fun watching the basement dwellers over at TrekBBS whip themselves into a frenzy over this nonsense, though. I'm not sure which group is worse, the canonites or the Abrams dicklickers.

It's probably the ones who act like they have some sort of vested interest in how much money this thing makes at the box office.

Actually, while watching Man of Steel I kept being reminded of this movie.

Zod had quite a few Khan-like qualities, but one thing that made me laugh was when he asked if Superman still needed to be alive for them to use his blood.
 
I got a lot of star trek moments from it, more from the first one than this one though.
