I will like it and everyone else will hate it. lol

This looks atrocious. Your description is very accurate. They have copied and pasted the last season and tweaked the threat. Bizarre.

It's literally impossible to do (live action) Star Trek without one.
 
The 1st ep was pretty intense. The butterfly people at the beginning were adorable and mean.

I guess the big scary thing this season will be some kind of gravitational distortion.
 
And the world snored. At least the part of the world that could actually see it legally. Which wasn't much of it!
 
Well after the outrage it's now coming to services earlier than originally planned. It's going to be on "Pluto TV"(?) in the UK, but apparently you have to watch it "live" and it won't be on demand lol? https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/star-trek-discovery-returning-to-uk-pluto-tv/
 
At first glance Pluto TV seems horrible and slow to load.
