Kira Nerys sounded different to me as well.
 
Age will do that to a voice. Just listen to any recent episode of the Simpsons.
 
Also they were playing it for comedy. On the original show it was all drama and hushed voices and subtleties (well Quark not so much). The voices were a little more forced to play it more broadly.

Kira and Shaxs fighting to out-thank each other was hilarious.

"I don't know, circle around and pretend we're in awe of the pylons..."
"Sir?"
"Just keep circling..."

Classic.
 
Shimmerman still did Quark's high-pitched scream perfectly (unless the just literally re-used a recording from DS9 for that.)

Clearly they're keeping Ezri for her own showcase episode where she doesn't have to share screentime with other guest stars!

ANYWAY. That DS9 episode.

It was like a BRAND NEW DS9 EPISODE. Only also funny! Like, legit funny!

Good one this week, big cameo, but could have been bigger.
 
Was this the season finale? Tendi mentioned something about cliffhangers and then they had a cliffhanger ending with the reveal that Boimler's clone was still alive and joined Section 31.
 
There's two more episodes to go.

I wonder how many times Shatner's turned them down because he didn't understand the script.
