Star Trek (spoilers for film) review

I saw it twice yesterday, and I might see it again today. I agree with all of you guys about everything so far, except that I'm cool with Scotty's little friend. I'm having trouble deciding how to display it with my other Star Trek movies: to the left of TMP or to the right of NEM? I think it'l go to the left of TMP until they make a second one, and then I'll reevaluate.

Scotty's buddy didn't annoy me as much the second time, yeah. Although he is a bit useless.

Technically this film should go right of Nemesis, as Nero and Spock have come from a post-Nemesis time and make this new reality.

But it would look dumb to have them go 1-6, then with names, and have the very last one just read: Star Trek.

I liked the little reference to Professor Archer and his beagle.

One thing I did notice the second time was that at the end of the film,

Admiral Pike is wearing something very very similar to Kirk's Admiral's uniform in TMP

MENTALIST MAKE THE TRIP TO ATHENS!

that is all.

Just back and to sum up:

I LOVE THIS FILM!

the little inside jokes for the old school, the new twists (Spock & Uhura)
- and how did I miss that SIMON PEGG plays Scotty!?!?!?! OMG - what a great surprise!!
(OK, I was trying to read as little about it as possible. I thought he was brilliant).
The rest of the cast did not disappoint - and I swear I could hear DeForest Kelly being channeled by Karl Urban.

well beyond my expectations!!

OH AND CKLT: give it a try!!!

( I want to see it again)

I just remembered the one thing I really didn't like about the movie, and that was the gunshot sound the ships make when they go to warp. Could be that the audio in the theater I saw the movie in was shit, but it made me jump every time. The movie was way too loud anyway, so that could be why it was so POW every time.

Just back from viewing #3.

I liked it. I'll tell you what I didn't like though...Zoe kissin' my man Zachary.

I'm trying to talk my dad into going to see it, because I know he'll enjoy it. And yeah, Cassie, now that you mention that about the warp sound, it sounded funky in my theater as well. But I was also in a small town theater, so who the hell knows what it's supposed to sound like.

I liked the little reference to Professor Archer and his beagle.

LOL, I must've been too amped, 'cause I totally missed that! I mean, I remember Scotty talking about the Beagle, but I didn't make the connection. D'oh!

This movie bears a second viewing!

I have made a pact with someone to go see it once more on the big screen tomorrow night [cheap Tuesday].

I am so jealous of those who have seen it twice

I probably won't get to see it in the theater again :(

I'm usually out on Tuesday night for music jams, but this is worth it to see once more on the big screen.
plus, Cheap Tuesdays they charge like $5.00 admission.
I guess no one goes to the movies on that night so they're trying to fill up the theatre?

Do y'all have matinees? Maybe it's sorta like that.

One of the theaters in the next town has a Tuesday night deal, I think it's $2.. or maybe that's the kid deal I DON'T KNOW.
