Looks like they were going for a "Family" episode post BOBW, to give us more background on the cadets. With a little Breakfast Club thrown in.
Not much meat on the bone story-wise. Cocky guy was gonna be Prince Philip but nah. Gay Klingon boy is gay. Tarima better recover quick or Caleb & Genesis may start canoodling and then feeling guilty about it for a whole season.
I find I enjoy this show more when I forget it's a Trek show.
