Stargate Universe

The episode was mostly ok, but petered out too soon, plus Chloe was too stupid for words.

They are in the middle of a massive battle, so she decides to wander out of her room, then as aliens cut their way into the ship, she thinks its not only a good idea to stick around while they do so, but then to look up into the hole they cut.

So I've just started watching SGU on dvd (got through the episode Darkness so far).

Favourite character so far is Chloe Armstrong, she's just cute.

I also like Ronald Greer, I'm just waiting for when he finally shoots Dr.Rush.

Show strikes me as a Lost In Space/BSG sort of thing. I do wonder how much of a shelf life the show has, till they start running out of ideas.

Well I really, really enjoyed this week's ep; "Faith".

Discovering the planet and even finding it has kiwi fruit is too good to be true, but it seems as though that will have a big payoff somewhere down the line. It's not a sign of lazy writing, as some will probably claim. The beam of light from the obelisk and the fact that the system seemed to have been created by an alien race was obviously reminiscent of lots of other scifi stories, though.

Does anyone think there's something really shifty about Dr Cain? I mean, aside from his name possibly being a hint. When he turned up all of a sudden after the hiatus I thought it was just the usual tv thing of a character being introduced who we're meant to accept was there all along, though unseen, but now I wonder if this might be a Dawn/The Key situation? Could he be one of the world-building aliens who's leading the crew to salvation/death? Hard to tell if that's why he was the main proponent of staying on the planet, or if the character was just introduced because the writers wanted a civilian character to leave behind without having to lose one of the existing group who've been seen from the beginning.

Anyway, will be interesting to see how long it is before they pick up on this. I like that they're continuing to seed future stories. Remember, we still don't know what happened to the people who went through the gate back in the episode with all the sand (I think it was called "The Countdown That Couldn't Slow Down").

Good, mysterious and interesting story.

Finally an episode I really liked!

I was thinking Dr Cain would turn out to be an alien too! Also, did anyone else stay behind with him?

I guess Rush and Young will be friends now that they've bonded. I was getting tired of them being at each other's throats all the time.

That was a weird episode. I KNEW they'd get trapped in the tunnels. Why do they keep making this show so fucking predictable? Now Rush will figure something out and they'll be rescued next episode after some harrowing adventure through the gates.

THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING IS 46. Except it's not the answer, it would be the answer if the ancients were human.

Mmm. Last week people said that the kiwis showed a lack of imagination, but I had faith in the writers. This week, we get Greco-Roman columns, giant spiders and cave-ins. Can't defend that one. The only good thing about that plot is that they weren't rescued miraculously in the last seconds of the episode, even if they'll obviously be rescued next week instead.

Not sure what to make of them shoe-horning some use into Chloe's character. Better than nothing, I suppose. They didn't make any mention of it, but it'd make sense if she was using the communication stones to learn from people on Earth (I think the comm stones are dumb, but if they're going to keep them in the show...).

The Rush stuff was okay, but they could've dealt with it in a couple of scenes at the beginning, rather than devoting an entire episode to it. At least we found out why he dislikes Eli, though. I agree Daniel Jackson was wasted in the ep. He could've been replaced with someone who was already in the show... Lou Diamond Phillips maybe? Remember him? I'd rather see Jackson actually visit the ship.

I'm not looking forward to the return of Lou Diamond Phillips. I hated the weird high school-ish thing between him and Young. I can't imagine a military officer not getting his ass in trouble for pulling that kind of shit. (I don't know if he's ever supposed to come back)

I thought he was meant to be a main character, but I don't care if he isn't. I'm glad they're not using the comm stones anymore, even if it doesn't make much sense in-universe. Shouldn't they be using them everytime they have a problem to ask everyone back home for ideas?

Yeah, I never understood why they didn't use them better. THEY SHOULD send someone useless, like Chloe, and get someone useful in exchange, like Daniel Jackson, or McKay, or Samantha Carter.. OR someone we've never heard of, but is an expert.

Glad TJ finally told Young about the babeh. She is too hot for him, really.

Eli was borderline annoying with the whining, ALSO he left the map thing on in the alien ship so I bet he's the reason they're going to be fighting next week.

GREER'S HAIR WAS BAD.

Bah, hasn't this show been canceled yet? It's taking up valuable time slots that could be used for Voyager reruns. THEY COULD HAVE AN ALL DAY NEELIX MARATHON RIGHT CASSIE???

It's funny, there was loads of running around and visits to interesting looking worlds, and yet at the end of it there was barely any difference in their situation. They got Greer back, but all the others who were missing at the beginning still are, only in a slightly worse predicament. Must admit I wouldn't have expected that.

Greer's flashbacks were good, although kind of funny since the episode was called "Lost".

Maybe it was a shoutout to Lost!

Greer's flashbacks were my favorite part, too. He should have let his daddy burn!

MOOGO, YOU CAN WATCH NEELIX PORN ON NEELIXPORN.COM OK?

Pretty good ep this week.

Liked that they used the robot they found a few weeks ago, even if they completely glossed over any details about it.

Those aliens REALLY want Destiny!

I can never get used to how ginormous that woman's boobs are.

I was glad Lieutenant Boobs had more to do this episode. Boobs are more interesting than CHLOE.

I think this might have been my favorite episode OF ALL. Rush should have given the crippled chick the dong! It's cool they're all working together now, instead of at each other's throats. I wonder how long it's going to take them to get to the next galaxy.

Oh, one thing I liked: Eli saying "what the frak?!"

One thing I didn't like: another bloody musical interlude.

That guy who plays Scott says the next 4 eps are teh best evar, but he says that sort of thing a lot...
