Stargate Universe

Well that was a pretty awesome episode. I mean, by SGU standards it was awesome anyway.

VARIOUS THINGS:

Didn't catch exactly why they all had to be down in the crumbling bunker during the transfer. My computer's like something from the stone-age compared to theirs and I can still go off to get a cuppa while some files transfer.

I like Varro, but they should've killed him off. I was really shocked when he CLEARLY FELL TO HIS DEATH, and then really disappointed in the writers when they brought him back. Didn't help that that bit was quite rushed, although I can understand them running out of time.

Alaina Huffman's nice. :)

They did a generally good job with all the casting, but Greer and Park's baby looked Caucasian and Eli's supposedly partially asian kid wasn't very credible (fat) either.

Rae said she'd been on loads of dates. How many lesbians can there really be in the Destiny's crew? There aren't even that many women.

Nifty ending with the shots of the city developing. The whole thing was a really good scifi "what if?" story that made me extra sad that the show's not continuing.

I was really good, wasn't it? Every time I've watched an episode (this season) and then had to sit through SyFy's ads for new shite reality shows I get mad at SyFy all over again.

Now they've moved Sanctuary to Mondays at 10pm, as if it has a chance against the network's shows.. I really AND TRULY believe they're trying to kill off all the scripted science fiction in favor of cheap reality crap.

THIS WEEK'S was quite good again, but it was a bit of a filler episode, really, and seemed to cover a lot of old ground. We've seen them refuel, we've seen them skim the atmosphere of a gas giant and we've sure as hell seen enough of those unimaginative drones. AND they established an excellent excuse to show humans on human looking planets whenever the budget needs reigning in (if there was a third season you could bet they'd visit a "wild west" planet).

Good things:

James punching that guy from BSG in the nose.

"Maybe they're Canadians?", as the cast stroll around an old Canadian town.

Angry Rush and lines like "yeah, well you're not even bloody here!". Cassie, did Angry Rush annoy you? I liked his attitude in this ep. I guess he's sick of hearing everyone talking about their descendants. Eli's "son of a bitch" was well delivered too.

I'm sick of the drones.

Appart from when they decided to end the show they also decided to cancel both the atlantis TV movie and the 3rd SG1 TV movie as well, so an absolute end to all stargates.

Which is a bummer.

Rush doesn't annoy me this season, even when he's being a dick. The reason he annoyed me before was the same reason Young and LDP's character (WHATSHISFACE?) annoyed me... BECAUSE their behavior didn't make sense. They were just being how they were for no apparent reason, and I think the show would have been better if they'd put some of that in context AND I WAS RIGHT. Now we know Rush isn't just a dickish asshole, and Young isn't just a wishywashy somethingorother, and LDP's character actually had a reason for being fucked up. IMO, LDP's character is really the only one they should have allowed to be such a mystery, since no one knew he was possessed or whatever. Sometimes I felt they created the conflicts between characters just for the sake of having conflicts. It made no sense that Rush and Young would be at each other's throats when so much was at stake. The show is much better now AND IT'S CANCELED :rmwad:

An appropriate series finale, I suppose. Not exactly a conclusion, but not an "OMG THEY'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" cliffhanger either.

It was nice that Park got to see again by using the stones, but whether she'll be able to see again is probably the main thing I'd like to see concluded. I liked her and Greer together.

Yeah, I thought they left it in a good spot. IF they were to somehow get a movie someday (I know they've said there's not going to be one) they could pick up after they've been in stasis for however long. I'm sad to see the show over FOREVER :rwmad:

I hope Eli fixes that damaged stasis pod. If they ever brought it back, I'd hate to see that he died. He was such a good character and nice guy.

The most recent one here had Rush trapped in a simulation because he didn't really love Perry, or something. Ginn was only in it for about 30 seconds and it doesn't look like she'll be seen again. I couldn't really follow the other story with Robert Picardo because it seemed to be referencing stuff from some other Stargate series without explaining it for new viewers.

I think those aliens (well, humans really) might've been in Stargate before, but it wasn't really important in the SGU story. All you had to know was that their planet was capable of sustaining a wormhole to Destiny, but they thought it was too dangerous.

The addition of Mackay didn't interest me much since I don't like his character or Atlantis, but I liked that they used the stones in a different way.

I always liked Mackay, he reminded me of me a bit, not the genius part, just the rubbing everyone up the wrong way part.

Sky saw fit to put a "RYAN GIGGS FUCKED IMOGEN UP THE BUM" banner across the screen for a few minutes during this week's episode.

I wonder if on SKY news they ran a banner saying "Slow paced episode of SGU now showing on sky1 and skyHD"
