The only thing I know of that could back that up is the fact that Trelane in SoG has no clue what's going on. He's like 400-500 years behind. So maybe yeah.
More likely it's just the production staff grasping at stuff from TOS or TNG to draw in more hard core viewers. ENT did the same thing... Borg, cloaked Romulans, etc.
Whatever. It will keep the nerds talking for the next two decades.

Slightly off-topic, but the computers are voice controlled on this show, aren't they? I mean, they were on TOS so you'd think. So maybe I need an alternate ENT series for what I want.
My friend is a tech nerd. And has an annoying habit of multitasking that involves having earbuds (or however he does it) and calling to talk on the phone for background noise while he's doing something else. So he'll be on the phone and regularly, in the middle of a conversation he'll go "Hey Google: Set timer for 5 minutes." Or "Hey Google: Turn on KUWS radio." And then there will be an extended sidebar of the lines of "I did not understand that." "Set timer for 5 minutes." "I'm getting toaster 5 midgets." "SET TIMER 5 MINUTES." "I'm betting Timelords 5 pigeons." "SET. TIME. FIVE. MINUTES."
I'd be amused if they did this with the voice controlled computers in an early Star Trek series. Be even funnier if it turned out that, for whatever reason, the computer is able to understand Uhura better than anyone else so everyone has to have Uhura ask the computer things for them.

That's what I was going with. Perhaps some sort of revenge plot against Spock for thwarting his fun with Kirk. In SoG he simply waved his hands, and used other tricks to make things happen. Now he's a bit older, a bit more in control and can snap his fingers to make things happen. But with the things he was saying (Greetings and Felicitations, Tally-Ho and the like) this HAD to be Trelane.
