I went to see the buzzards return to Hinkley at 7 am, saw a buzzard after I got home in the field next to my barn. I had 9 people over for "buzzard stew" (chicken chili) and target practice.

yesterday evening my computer abruptly died. This morning my car battery died. Rode my bike to work and discovered sitting around all winter playing computer games will turn you into a walking heart attack no matter what shape you used to be in.

Yay the computer is resurrected. Turns out it was just pining for the fjords after all. Of course, we didn't figure out the problem was a bad memory chip until after we reformatted the hard drive, so EVERYTHING is gone. But the computer lives on, and hell I built up all that porn ERRRRRRRR important software once, I can do it again.

My indoor cat, Rum Tum thinks he is a bad ass and wants to be top cat now that the old top cat has passed. So, Rum Tum escaped from the house last night and went forth to convince the outdoor cats that he is now top cat.
The outdoor cats have taken Rum Tum off somewhere and left him. Now he is lost and he doesn't have a clue what to do outside because all he has ever done is lay on my bed, eat out of the good cat dishes, and use the special kitty commode that is self cleaning even though it makes a bit of noise. I can't find him and I'm almost depressed. It is possible a wolf or a coyote got him. That happens often here in the mini-forest in th middle of town.
My last big, old dog is on her deathbed with breast cancer. She isn't looking good even though she manages to rally a bit for some hamburger, fried chicken or chocolate ice cream. Yes, I know these are all bad for her but she will not make it to the end of the month so she can have it if she wants it.
I'm going out of town in the morning with some friends to the Dogwood Festival in my favorite little city southeast of here. We're going to stay the night and come back Sunday. It isn't that far but we plan on doing a lot tomorrow and we all like staying in a comfortable hotel with free breakfast. The news is it is supposed to thunderstorm all day tomorrow, and a cold front is blowing in tonight, and there is a possibility of snow again tomorrow. Uh.... bad timing! We're still going though. The dogwoods are blooming, there are quilts and cooking to be judged, a parade, a car show, and stuff in general to do. Plus, I get to hang out with friends that I find fun and interesting.
I wish the TPTB would let my old dog go back into remission again, the missing Rum Tum would find his way home, and the bad weather would wait until my friends and I are through with our merrymaking and back home safe and sound late Sunday.

Well, sometimes things don't work out. Rum Tum still hasn't come home and he wasn't one to miss a meal. More than likely a wolf or coyote got him. Old girl, Claudette, died early this morning from cancer and I buried her this afternoon with her bed in the backyard. And, last weekend was almost a dud because the festival was snowed out. We still went and toured the area, enjoying the charm of the little tattered town covered in snow - ate a lot and talked a lot. Learned some stuff about my friends that was kind of funny and surprising - she cusses like a sailor and he is kind of goofy. My kind of folks though.

Had to do a heart echo / stress test today because of weird things that showed up on my ekg a couple of months ago about the same time my blood pressure started going wonky nuts. Well, finally, some good news. Cardiologist says my heart is in marvelous shape, really strong, no blockages, etc. Now, if my blood pressure will quit being weird I can get back to jumping around in the pool three days a week.
I do have this to say - it is not right to not let an old person get any exercise for four months then make them run up hill for six minutes. It almost tuckered me out.

Very strange week for me. Last Sunday I went to help a friend pick up kitchen cabinets someone was giving her. We lefted them fine, but when I climbed into the truck to drive them to her house something pinched or bent or twisted, and suddenly I couldn't walk or bear weight. It was an identical weakness to what happened after my car accident last year, so I muddled thru Monday at work and wound up on my back tuesday unable to get upright. Sucks getting old, especialy with chronic back and/or sciatic nerve issues. Walking around like a little old man.
It gets better. While I'm laid up on my couch Wednesday morning, I suddenly hear my upstairs neighbor falling headfirst down the stairs as she leaves for work. So now I gotta try and struggle up, grab some pants and get to her so I can make sure she isn't dead. Luckily, the narrow hall I think kept her from really picking up speed. I was able to help her, ambulance was called, and I went to pick her up later. Even broke-down I am a dragonslayer at heart. She wound up with a broken foot and could have been a lot worse. We made a lot of jokes about cripples helping cripples.
Thursday the pain began to wane but the weakness is there, and now I have a cold or something so when I sneeze or laugh the nerve flares and hurts like hell. So I was watching the Simpsons last night and it was "Achoo OWW" "hahahaOWW" "AchooOWWW" all evening.
Plus side, the pain is mostly gone but I can't support any heavy weight. Negative side, I had a date tonight that was likely to end a certain dry spell and I can't decide whether I want to risk permanent back injury to get my winkie wet...tough, tough call.
