There was an episode of Voyager centred around copyright law

The "Voyager rule of Warp travel" is that if you go faster than warp ten you will compress a universe sized pile of shit into a box that takes seven years to unpack.

After four series, three of them lasting 7 years we're lucky we didnt get an episode about the ingrediants of pasta bolognese.

Mmmm....ball on yayz sauce!

How yousa like'm dat?

IIRC "Author, Author" was an annoying effing episode. Yet another example of Margaret Donner & crew having & getting it TOO EASY TOO OFTEN!

They don't need mobile emitters. All they would have to do is save, and transfer the program to another location that would have holographic emitters installed.

Why would they have to transfer EMH programs to a mining asteroid instead of just creating miner holograms? AH, fUCK.

They probably already had the rights to use Dr. Zimmerman's likeness in a hologram, and didn't feel like paying for somebody else's likeness.

(And we've come back full circle to IP rights)

Or if tehy were faulty, why not just delete them?

Well with the EMH, you already got most of the programming out of the way. All you have to do is add in the specifics for mining.

Who thought Andy Dick would make a more reassuring doctor than Robert Picardo?

Ah yes, I remember that episode. I recall thinking 'how the fuck does a goddamned HOLOGRAM have 'rights' to anything? How is it 'stealing' when you 'copy' from a bunch of photons'? The world has gone insane. Now, liberals are seeking to protect things that are nothing more than machines, just as in the episode where Starfleet wished to OWN Data in ST:NG. I was staggered by Picard defending a fucking machine. So, if some pissed off consumer doesn't get his money back from a malfunctioning Coke machine, and kicks it in frustration, does the Coke machine have the right to sue for assault? Fucking liberals are insane.

Reminds me of the time I destroyed an entire group of people in Spacecast, where they were arguing that the Cylons were actually living, sentient beings, and I argued they were nothing more than advanced, glorified machines. Assholes at Spacecast banned me, then contacted my ISP for 'harrassment of the members'. My ISP told Spacecast to 'go fuck yourselves, and leave our customers alone, or we will be dealing with your hosts'. I loved it. I caused two media giants to fight it out over me. I was hoping Spacecast would have gone after my ISP, who are loaded with cash. Would have been fun seeing them OWN Spacecast... I literally do mean OWN.

Lucy, I sent you a friend request ages ago. Are you ever gonna be my friend?

They're just lucky he didn't have any genitals. I reckon that little feature was removed from the program after some godawful "incidents".

"Captain I have to take your tempature"

"Alright... hey what's going on"

"It's my rectal thermomitor!"

"That's your penis EMH, get that out of there now!"

DATA COULD CREATE A SUPER GENIUS HOLOGRAM JUST BY SAYING "COMPUTER, CREATE A SUPER GENIUS HOLOGRAM."

How come the program on the computer is classed as sentient but the computer itself is not?

BECAUSE JESUS TOLD THE US CONGRESS TO MAKE IT THAT WAY! HEATHEN!

Well there was that episode where the Enterprise computer came alive in the holodeck for some reason then flew out of the ship at the end...somehow or something.

The episode you're thinking was in season 7 and titled Emergence.

It had Fuddlemiff the ticket inspector (but he wasn't really Fuddlemiff)!
