They announced the show ending a year in advance -- I think that would mean it's over by mutual decision.
Does the CW even have room for another refugee DC show? They're going to have to expand their programming hours.
Also, DC is starting their own streaming site, DC Universe. That could become a factor in the fate of a lot of current shows...
I found this paragraph in a Deadline story about the show ending, but it may just explain why the show got a fifth season instead of being cancelled abruptly after four:

OKAY GUYS this is getting out of hand again. This week I wrote down so many names in my secret document throughout the week that I had no choice but to make this a top 35 special, the first in I think two years. But even then my brain almost broke trying to arrange these names into the correct order. Something has to be done. I know I could just start writing shorter lists, but I think that would be unsatisfying as my brain would know I was leaving off "deserving" people every week. So the crazy idea I had was doing DAILY lists just for ONE WEEK as an experiment to see how that all turned out and if it helped me calm down go back to slightly shorter and more managable weekly lists two weeks from today. These DAILY lists would be MUCH SHORTER (ideally only ten a day) than this one, with no comments, posted every night at around midnight to reflect the day in female celebrity happenings. Again this will only be for ONE WEEK and it's entirely possible I won't make the whole week. I just want to see how it turns out for one week only so please indulge me. Is that okay?

Firstly, those girls who are still thresh in my mind from yesterday's top ten and have dominated my female celebrity thoughts for the week. Scarlett Johansson was trending upwards throughout the week and was really the only choice to be number one today and would have been even without the good new pics there were today. Natalie Portman creeps up the list as Natalie Portman creeps into my mind every day. Kat Dennings remains strong though Felicity Jones falls surprisingly low after being number one for the week ending yesterday. Then there's girls from tv shows I've watched in the last 24 hours (Riverdale, The Flash, The Good Place) and it is those girls who are most advantaged by this being a daily top ten: Candice Patton, Lili Reinhart and Tiya Sircar would probably never rank this high on a weekly top ten (though they'd both certainly be worthy of doing so) but finish very high here. And finally there's girls who posted pics of themselves on Instagram!
SIDENOTE: I found that I couldn't concentrate on this short list while listening to a wrestling podcast so had to start listening to the Xenoblade Chronicles OST to get it out.
So there we go, fifteen is more than I wanted to post for the day and even then I kind of had to restrain myself from posting more. REMEMBER this is just an experiment and a work in progress, I would expect the number to drop as I get further from Thursday. As there's fifteen on the list there will be 15 points awarded for first place, 14 for second, etc. I don't know if I'll make that standard or decrease it if the lists get shorter?
