True Blood "Beyond Here Lies Nothin" PLUS S2 analysis AND advance S3 squee-ness

I'm just about to start book #6, Definitely Dead. The series is better than the books, but the books do explore more of the supernatural world than just vamps and shifters. I'm looking forward to seeing Alcide in the next season, but I'd really like to see Claudine (but who will they cast??) and Quinn. There's a tiger on the cover of book 6, so I'm assuming Quinn plays a prominent role.

^You assume correctly about Quinn. :)

I reckon they've held off showing the werewolves for budget reasons as much as story ones. Werewolves are crap in some movies, so even on big a tv budget there's a bit of a risk of them looking stupid.

Well, the Weres in the Sookie-verse are just wolves, albeit much larger than your 'standard' wolf. I think they could do it using actual wolves and use camera tricks to make them appear larger. The transformation is the expensive part, but they've shown Sam shifting a couple of times. And, really, aside from makeup and a couple of "sped-up" vamps running, there haven't been much F/X. Unless you count pouring buckets of blood on poor Anna when she staked the vamp as SFX.

Which has been one of my favourite things about the show.

OMGAY ALERT!
'True Blood' exclusive: Sam to get frisky with Bill!

If you’re one of the (many) True Blood viewers who suspected there might be fallout from Bill “donating” blood to save Sam’s life in the finale last September, go ahead and give yourself a gold star. The show’s boss, Alan Ball, tells me that in season 3, the hunks will forge “not just any connection, an erotic connection.”

How erotic? Ball wouldn’t say. But at least he was more forthcoming with regard to another upcoming same-sex couple-to-be: Lafayette and his new love interest Jesus (played by Southland’s Kevin Alejandro). Bon Temps’ resident V peddler “is very guarded, and Jesus is a guy who is willing to knock down some of those guards,” he says. “[Though] it’s not an easy relationship, they have a lot in common. They’re both shamans of sorts, healers, so there’s a reason they get brought together.

“But,” he emphasizes again, “it’s not going to be easy.”

So, thoughts on a Bill/Sam flirtation? Too far-out or not far enough? And do you even care, so long as the subplot leaves Sookie free to explore her attraction to Eric?

O BOI! YUM.

DOGGY STYLE!

Sounds silly, but who knows how strongly it'll really feature. Maybe it'll just be played for laughs.

I don't think it can be played any other way. Especially when one of them ends up buck naked at the most inopportune moments.

Well, it's not the first time that's happened. Lafayette has erotic dreams about Eric after drinking his blood, and sounds like he probably would even if he wasn't gay.

But then, who wouldn't (or hasn't) had erotic dreams about Eric?

I'M HAVING ONE RIGHT NOW!

Atta girl!!!!!

How long before the whole vampire thing totally jumps the shark with a musical?

I'm sure there'll be a Twilight musical in the next 3-5 years, once the films are done.

Yeah, it could be called something like "Once More, With Feeling!".

Isn't Joss Whedon supposed to direct a musical episode of True Blood someday? lol
