And as Menty said (maybe to me on MSN I can't remember) the vampires seemed completely de-mystified...all anyone seemed to care about was having sex with them.

The same can be said about Sex and the City and Gilmore Girls but I enjoyed those.

Paquin's gran should have been played by the old woman from the TNG episode 'The Survivors' if she's still alive.

Sookie played by Paquin may not be how you pictured her; I'd be interested in what you think of the actors they cast , too. her wretched brother's perfectly cast, IMHO.
 
btw - it took 5 hours for my freakin 'puter to download the show; I just went to bed and watched it in the morning... still thought it was worth it,
but some among us hated it so you'll have to judge for yourself.
 
Is the brother supposed to be an unlikable shit? If so, I guess the casting was good.

Watched the first episode this afternoon. I'm hooked. Took rocktar out for drinks and wings for his birthday so I'll catch episode 2 another night.

I was just looking through my recipe book for something I can make my neighbour for our "True Blood" luncheon this week. She can record the True Blood eps off her satellite to watch later but cant put them to disc so I have to and watch it at her place.
She's off bread, potatoes, and rice so that's making it a bit challenging. I'm thinking a nice buttersquash or curried carrot and apple soup. it's getting too cold out to have salads for lunch.
Now if we can get the Dexter eps sorted....
 
I have returned, and now can gush over this show. Yeah, it's cheesy and I can see why Menty and Wacky have problems with it. But I've read the books, and I think Alan Ball has done an awesome job of compacting the series into one hour chapters.

Paquin captures Sookie's eccentrics, right down to her crazy behavior. Yes, Sookie is as crazy as a bed bug, but in a good way.

Jason is a shit in the books, and I'm glad they've portrayed him this way in the show. All he cares about is getting his dick wet.

And Eric will be making an appearance, played by Alexander Skarsgard (Skellan's son). He's a hottie, and he's from a show called Generation Kill.

I checked on IMDB, and Bill & Sam are only slated for four or five episodes, and if they keep with the books, I can understand that about Bill. Still, he's a fucking hottie, and I think he's doing a nice job as Bill.

Well, that's all I'm gonna say. :)
 
Also, I love me some Lafayette. I want his ring tone. Tara still irks me, but hopefully she'll grow on me since she's in most of the episodes as well.
 
Oooh...I wonder if Alcide will eventually show up....
 
I liked the second episode better than the premiere. Wasn't quite as wacky, Wacky.

I'll say no more till the rest of you have seen it.
