Walking Dead (comic)

I think I'm only up to #80, I'll have to check my d/l and see if I have #81 yet.

I'm actually very disappointed that the scientist guy was a big fat liar, and that there was nothing in Washington DC but more Walkers. The idea that there might be a cure or some explanation reinvigrated what had become a somewhat stale series. I understand that the point of the series is to show the long-term effect of a zombie apocalypse, but they could also use this long-form storytelling to show what caused the infection. I can't imagine the series can last forever like The X-Men; once Kirkman gets bored or burnt out I think it will end. So at least give me hints that you have some end plan. Kind of like Lost-it was getting boring with lots of filler eps until ABC allowed the creators to have an end date.

I think Kirkman would see a cure as something that betrays the premise of the book. I think the only way it's ending is if all the zombies eventually die out (which has been hinted at recently, I think there was a scene with Glen spotting some "sick" zombies.)

Not a spoiler, just an idea: Theoretically, you could eventually kill all of the zombies, if you had enough people and were smart enough. I'm assuming that the number of dead in the United States outnumbers the living something like 1,000-to-1. Maybe more? If you decided to try and wipe them out it's just a matter of getting lots of them in one place at one time, and using old-school methods like fire or gasoline bomb or even a conventional C-4 bomb, right? Do you think it's possible to at least wipe them out of the majority of the United States? I mean, the country is fucking huge, but with enough people and enough time, I think it would be probable.

Maybe Australia avoided the infection entierly and the series will end with THE AUSTRALIAN ARMY storming in and saving everyone saying "oy mate."

^^That could happen. But more likely, any uninfected country would be aware of what's going on in the US, and would have attempted to pillage the country for all the undefended weapons and loot. But we don't know how long the zombies have been roaming, it must be at least a year or more because Rick was in hospital for awhile, and then Lori had a full-term baby.

I'm up to date. Still really enjoying it but Kirkman really does have a complex with killing his characters. I know that is not a new development with him but he does off people at an alarming rate.

I just read #83. I am once again shell shocked.

Morgan's dead and Carl may be joining him. Carl. He's missing an eye at least. OMFG. Just when you think someone's safe...

Read 83 tonight. Total game-changer.

Morgan, Douglas and Jessie (after Rick chops her hand off!) dying in one issue would have been notable, but Carl getting part of his head blown off was insane. Most disturbing page since Lori and the baby were killed. So either Carl is crippled or he's dying soon. Realistically he would die given the conditions. Where would that leave Rick? How could have ever go on?

I knew Jessie was dead the moment she said with huge doe eyes "I'd follow you anywhere". And let's not forget she had to watch her kid get eaten moments before Rick screwed her [pun not intended]. The fallout from No Way Out is gonna be huge, wheter Carl dies or not.
