Ok, so I've had this on loan from a friend for a couple of months now (it made a great mousepad!), but I finally got around to watching it tonight. I mean, I had to. Although, in practice, it didn't turn out to be "so bad it's good" like I expected. It was just bad.
I'm not going to bother criticising the plot because I couldn't keep enough of it straight in my head to identify the plot holes, but yeah, even after switching my brain off it was still pretty boring and unfulfilling. There are some effects shots that make you go "ooh!" and "ahh!", but that's usually followed by "wait, what'd I just see happen?" or "which robot was that anyway?".
Oh and I know it's a movie about giant transforming robots and everything, but the writers lack of awareness of geography seriously got on my nerves. I've been to Egypt and I've seen the pyramids. They are not a brisk walk away from Jordan. They're 250 fucking miles away. You can't be in Petra in Jordan and go "oh, ya hear that? There are planes flying over the pyramids in Egypt!". Fuck off.
I didn't actually mind Megan Fox so much. Yeah, she looks really plastic and her eyebrows have been shaped to within an inch of their lives, but she's not so bad. I do think that any woman with any self respect would've quit when they read the script, though.
