Here's the thing to understand: shootER was, like, this deep cover Manchurian Candidate poster. Back when the board was more libertarian and leaned to the right, he lived in Texas and was ex-military, so he acted libertarian and conservative because then he could hang with the Cool Kids. When The Gang of Four (Anc, gul, etc) staged their coup, I fell for Anc's puppetmaster fuckery. He invited me to be a moderator and I accepted, thinking he actually wanted a balanced diverse board. He made me the moderator for the new members welcome page or something. He also ignored or discounted any suggestions I made in the staff areas and it quickly became clear that he only wanted posters like Paladin, Frontline, and me as window dressing so he could say "See!? We're diverse and tolerant! We have conservative moderators!" So I left. And shootER volunteered to take my place.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Back when shootER was still working deep cover he regularly made posts that seemed...funny...to me, given his stated positioning--hating Texas Governor Rick Perry, hating the NRA, hating the death penalty, etc. It always seemed odd but I just shrugged and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

But once he got his foot in the door on staff--a staff that planned to take the place hard Left--the mask came off. And he quickly expanded his influence on running the board. I still don't know his official role there or the scope of his influence; I really don't know the scope of anyone's influence there. They like it that way. For awhile Anc claimed to have stepped down. But he still owned the domain. And I guess he got bored with that charade. But yeah. This is a long way of saying that shootER is a hypocritical two-faced sneaky piece of shit. :)

It's wild to look at threads from 2007 and before, how much more of a diverse and interesting place it was. Sometimes the current denizens will even dig up one of these old threads because they no longer have anyone to pillory so they go back to an old thread to attack someone long gone.

This explains a lot because when I first joined Shooter seemed like a reasonable libertarian type then when Trump came down that escalator, he went full on authoritarian left wing. Same with Order 2 Chaos. Now he just posts memes and tweets about anything that looks anti-Trump.

Been coasting since around 2018 actually. Finally in the mindset to try for children, trying since 2023. But also sad that every media I loved from StarTrek to StarWars has been utterly demolished beyond recognition.

It is quite possible the racism was just a troll. The board was different back then.

I say let him back with a stern warning that this isn’t that board and the first hint of race/gender/sexuality/etc trolling will get him another decade long time out to think on how to be better.

Is that a double standard considering what TLS gets away with? Yes, it is. TLS has managed to skirt the line as the board’s norms have shifted. So has gotten grandfathered in.

Tas on the other hand violated the norms and wants back so can be on probation.

That should probably be made clear. Just because TLS and UA get away with questionable posts doesn’t mean he can.

[edit] I guess I am saying that if he wants to come back and shoot the shit with folks he’s known a quarter century I say fine.

If he wants to come back to troll then he can stay at trollkingdom.
 
It really is a different board.

Especially once it came out that Storm was an actual ‘Hosts a Nazi podcast and owns a publishing company that translates and prints Nazi writings’ really fucking real Nazi the board is a lot less tolerant of ‘racism for lulz’.

@Ancalagon hey man thanks for responding, but what I am gathering is that even though I was and am one of "the originals" of WF I'll be treated differently cuz Storm came out to be an actual Nazi? How am I responsible for his actions? Besides, I never meant anyone any harm all throughout the years I was there.
