Westworld

They've strongly implied that Elsie's dead, but we've only really seen her pass out. Not sure how she would have survived though. What would have stopped Bernard from following through?

The only thing I don't get about Bernard being Arnold is that surely someone would recognise him. I know it's been 30 years since Arnold died, but if a robot duplicate of Steve Jobs showed up in 30 years working at Apple it wouldn't take long for the resemblance to be noticed.

But instead of trumpeting Bernard as the genius, Ford kept his role a secret and kept the credit for himself. Arnold wasn't Jobs, he was Wozniak, but one who died in obscurity before the product was even launched. And we've learned that his death wasn't a tragic accident or suicide - he was murdered by the very product Ford was launching. So there's another huge reason to hush up his very existence so nobody asks too many questions.

Didn't Bernard kill her too?

BTW, was nice to hear Meave use the correct pronunciation of Bernard.

There are two common pronunciations of Bernard. BURN'ərd (common in the UK) and BurNARD (common in US). I grew up with a BURN'ərd. Some people probably use both.

Likewise, the last name Miracle is pronounced either a long i, "Mire-əkl" or a short i, which is pronounced the same as "miracle". In my home town the miracles gradually became Mire-əkls, and one Mire-ekl my dad encountered said "Yeah, my dad was John Miracle (miracle) but I'm Tom Mire-əkl. :p

I once had a waitress who chose to pronounce her name completely different than it was spelled, almost like "It's written 'Wanda' but it's pronounced 'Betty.'" :D

Well, it looks like Maeve will find Bernard, and Clementine version 1 in the next episode. I wonder if she's gonna reactivate them for the revolution. But, Bernard shot himself in the head, is his memory salvageable? They lobotomized Clem and she came back. So a head wound probably wont stop his reactivation. I also suspect one of Maeve's troopers (or Maeve herself) will come to the rescue of Delories from the hands of the Man in Black. But, only after he reveals his identity first. Is he Logan, or William? After seeing William start to lose his shit last episode I'm undecided. Perhaps he becomes a ruthless business man after leaving the park for the first time, goes and marries Logan's sister, and comes back to rape Delories to try and jog her memory, make her sentient once again. Maybe that's why he placed the picture at her ranch, in the hopes she would discover it. I'm also wondering about Delories flashback with all the dead bodies in the lab. Reminded me of the original movie. Is that from the past, or a future event?

Early on in the season the Man in Black said that he "cut one of you open when I first came here" to Teddy. In the latest episode it was actually Logan who cut Dolores open, not William, but he could have just been simplifying for Teddy (or he'll cut Dolores open himself in the finale.) So, in short...I don't know. I think he's most likely William as that makes most sense with everything we've seen, but I do hope there's some unexpected twist to it that Reddit haven't figured out yet.

So this episode is... odd. Is Delores a 1st-generation host, or is it that there was a 1st-gen host that had her name, likeness, and mind, and the current Delores is a "remake"?

Westworld has already been renewed, next season will probably be in 2018.

HOLY SHIT, that was a great finale. It's just the beginning!

She's so old that she figured out how to shoot eight shots out of a Colt revolver
I hope William/MIB isn't killed. I'm not happy with the 'resolution' of his storyline.

Ed Harris is still on the cast for season 2.

Little tidbits:

In the scene where Maeve destroys Bernard's programming device, he was reading her new story line and got to the part where she boards a train "and makes it to the mainland" right before she smashes it and insists that she's making her own decisions. She follows the plot laid out for her until she saw the mother and daughter together and decided to leave the train and return to Westworld.

While the new narrative party was going on, the drunken story artist went to the storage bay to fetch the host loaded with secrets and source codes and found the entire bay had been emptied of hosts. Charlotte Hale's scheme to smuggle code out of the park had been thwarted.

The only human who knows the truth about Bernard is Felix (Sylvester stayed put when Maeve, Felix, and the two hosts set off on their escape). The security feeds got cut, and the QA guards who saw Felix got killed, so there probably won't be much to implicate Felix as anything other than a tech who got taken hostage by killer robots. He'll avoid implicating himself and thus won't say much about Maeve and won't utter a peep about Bernard, who will no doubt protect him from repercussions.

The attack showed the hosts had some serious, serious flaws, and the logical person for the board to turn to to address the problem is, of course, going to be Bernard.

Oh, and then there is Wyatt.

The Man in Black had been searching for Wyatt for perhaps decades, convinced that Wyatt knew the secret of the center of the maze. But he had never met Wyatt, who was the only character in the park he couldn't ever find.

Or so he assumed.

As was already knowledge among the hosts, Wyatt and Teddy slaughtered an entire town. Wyatt's followers said he preached that this world was for the one who is yet to come.

Wyatt was hidden in plain sight.

The Man in Black found Wyatt when he unknowingly unlocked the secret of the maze and Delores became fully awake. Then Wyatt killed Ford and began slaughtering the board of directors as Wyatt's gang moved in, starting off by wounding William with a rifle shot to the arm. William was correct in thinking Delores would lead him to Wyatt and the secret of the maze, but it was just not what he was expecting.

A Delos security camera during the lock down had a date stamp.
