What advantages does the Mine Field have over suicide?

This reminds me of an interview I saw of a guy who jumped off Golden Gate and lived. He said the second his feet left the rail he was instantly struck by a profound sense of regret.

I don't understand the people who fail at suicide then decide they want to live. Surely they've actually just found yet another thing they're not good at?
 
I'm really not sure what advantages suicide has over the MF.

The MF has cool funky people who I am led to believe are devilishly handsome and beautiful. They are also witty and urbane.

Suicide is the pool of piss in the corner of the park toilets in comparison.
