What film did you recently see ? Do not forget to rate it

Marquis De Sade

I came for the spankings
I watched Inside Man, a couple of days ago.

It was very good. I thought it would be another generic heist movie, but it's the smart plot, and Denzel Washington & Clive Owen's solid performances that set this one apart.

8/10

Wanted, with Angelia Jolie. I give it a C+. The only reason it gets THAT high of a grade is because you get to see Angelina's tushy at one point.

Frost/Nixon: Not as good as Good Night and Good Luck but still decent. 7/10.

Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona: Considering it's a Woody Allen movie, it's actually pretty good. Enjoyed it quite a bit even though I absolutely cannot identify with their "bourgeois" desires - totally ridiculous and makes me look down on the 'mericans who actually believe/want that shit. Big plus was obviously Scarlett and Penelope (even though the lesbian scene was very short). Especially Penelope is insanely hot. 7/10

Donnie Brasco - An excellent film. The chemistry between, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, and Micheal Madsen carries this one. The character development was very good, and the plot was solid.

9/10.

Ocean's Eleven - Best of the series. Funny twist at the end but you probably shouldn't think too hard about it. 8/10.

The Ugly American

Entertaining movie, Brando was hothothot and chewed scenery. Which was good, because his male costar was equally hot and only Brando could have ever matched him in intensity on film. About 40 minutes in Brando makes a suggestion to the government that appeared to me to be completely out of left field, I suppose I will have to read the book to get a better understanding. John Cougar Mellencamp's "Freedom Road" was referring to this movie.

The senate confirmation hearing at the beginning got me thinking; I wonder what the attitude was toward the older generation at that time. After all, the middle-aged adults of the 50s had essentially saved the free world during WWII; how did they feel about the elder statesmen with all that power? What had those men accomplished?

I'm not good at rating movies, I give this a "good."

The last movie I watched was the House Bunny, but it was so far off the horrible scale, it shouldn't even count. Like seriously, horrible, awful, HORRIBLE movie. Don't watch it.

A movie that was on television, about a group of young adults benefiting from superpowers.

It was awful, and did not make any sense. The "climatic scene" was about two abysmal actors throwing water balls at each other in a barn. Oh, and it had this extremely shitty cliché of some character being overrun by ants, only to realize later that it was just a dream.

0/10

Wyrd Sisters - animated adaptation of the Terry Pratchett book.

Pratchett's books are and will always be the real deal, and, imo, quite unadaptable. The movie (actually, it's a TV miniseries published on DVD) still gets 4/10 for its attempt to stay faithful to the book wrt storyline and characters, and some quite funny scenes.

Fanboys

I had very low expectations, and as a result was pleasantly surprised. This movie is about (as you probably know) a bunch of SW fanboys driving across the country to break into Skywalker Ranch and watch TPM six months before its release. Full, and I mean FULL of cliches, but I enjoy cliches, they are reliable, so this was great. I've been on SW message boards lately and they're all disappointed because the movie has a mainstream sensibility to it, but they're all just picky.

Entertainment value: Good
Quality value: ummmm

Almost forgot:

That cute guy who played Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns stars, and along with lots of well-known Sci-Fi cameos and Kristen Bell as a costar, you will also have the fortune of seeing Joe LaTruglio (MTV's The State) and Robert MacDonald (lots of stuff, you will recognize him)

Just finished watching A Bittersweet Life.

It's a masterpiece, and one of the Cinema's finest offerings. The cinematography in it is something to behold, and the final scene needs a review of its own to serve it justice. A must see.

A definite 10/10.

The original 1974 version of Gone in 60 Seconds.

Once you get past the shite acting and the cliche 70's nonsense, it's really quite good. The car chases were beyond what you see today. Meaning, today's action films use a lot of fast cuts to increase the pace and tension and keep the action flowing. This film uses incredibly long shots. A lot last longer than 15 seconds. Nearly unheard of today. The cars were sexy and fast. The sound man on this film must've been squirting in his pants with those engine noises. I do have to say that the nearly 45 minute chase scene at the end is brilliant. A true testament to chase movies and car action films.

I'd give this classic an 8 out of 10

Wanted, with Angelia Jolie. I give it a C+. The only reason it gets THAT high of a grade is because you get to see Angelina's tushy at one point.

Angelina Jolie is an aged has-been. It is time to put the skanky, used bitch to pasture. It rather figures you would rate a movie because it allows you to view something you have never seen before in your entire life, a female's tushy, even if an aged one. I barely even noticed her tushy, simply because I have seen far, far, far better tushies. When hers was revealed, I simply shrugged, and muttered to myself 'moving along...'. That's how much of an effect her ass had on me. When you have seen better, hers becomes irrelevant.

Meaning, today's action films use a lot of fast cuts to increase the pace and tension and keep the action flowing.

Agreed. The use of fast cuts, zoom in's, and CGI ruins nowadays' action oriented movies.

It's when you when see this shit that you learn to appreciate oldies, which, back in the time, you may not have found special at all.

The movie I watched before that was Dirty Mary Crazy Larrry.

Talk about long cuts....

The chase sequences are a real selling point for this movie. No CGI. No fast cuts. Just pure speed. The characters and the script are sublimely written.

8/10

Memento

The way the movie unfolds, twist after twist, is remarkable. The reverse chronology, although I felt it was kind of gimmicky, served its purpose right. Carrie Ann-Moss is the best thing there is in this movie, however, the other characters and their actions did not sell. A pinch of common sense could have shot this whole plot apart. There's a thin thine between surrealism/unorthodox art direction and plain nonsense. Plus, there's this totally useless subplot inserted solely for the purpose of saying "fuck you" to the viewer.

Overrated, IMO, but still, it dares to bring something fresh to the table.

7/10.
