What film did you recently see ? Do not forget to rate it

We're back: A dinosaur's story - Released in 1993, is a "Stephen Spielberg Presents". Ok, I figure Spielberg and Dinosaurs, a no-brainer for my son. I made the mistake of watching it with him.
This was the most un-mitigated MESS of a movie, animated or live-action, that I've seen in years. The writing was awful, lazy, even my son was asking "why did they do that?", and all I could answer was "Because some writer couldn't write his way out of it so they just "miraculously" did this." Even the voice-actors slipped in and out of New York Accents of various kinds. The rest phoned it in.
A little more than an hour of my life wasted. And my son's for that matter. Just a BAD movie, and with the names behind it, I did expect something better.

I'll give it a coveted "0 out of 4 stars". I have to believe that it took work and forethought to make a move this bad, even if it's aimed at kids.

Paranormal Activity 2

Give it an A
because when I wake up in the middle of the night
because my old house makes noises
I almost get scared.
Sure do miss my big, old dogs.

Watched two movies in two days.
First- Woke Up Dead, with Jon Heder. Billed as a zombie comedy, had very little zombie or comedy in it. Absolutely banal. No funny, no scary, and the zombies are like superheroes or some shit. Worst zombie movie ever, and I've seen some really bad zombie movies. Jon Heder, your fifteen minutes are up. Go feed the fucking Llama.

Second- The Wolf Man, with Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. In a way this was much more disappointing than the other, because I expected more from Hopkins. But The Wolf Man is a mishmash of hackneyed plot twists, inexplicable decisions by characters, TERRIBLE wooden acting (the irony is that Del Toro's character is a Shakespearean actor in the film lol) and only the barest nod to the classic original. Awful, awful movie. Even the gore in the unrated version was awful, and not in that good horror movie way but in the bland, "Oh he ripped that guy's head off" way.

Funny relate I just remembered: in the first movie, one of Zombie Heder's powers is Matrix-style bullet ducking, complete with wave effect as the bullet passes. In the second movie the constable (and only halfway decent acting effort) is played by the Matrix bad guy Agent. He has the only lines in the movie at all worth remembering. On the plus side, the movie ends with an obvious setup for a sequel as the constable gets bitten by Talbot Del Toro and lives theoretically to become Wolf Man II. As a better actor I would hope this is the case.

Movie 1: 1 out of 10
Movie 2: 2 out of 10

Been watching a lot of Spaghetti Westerns lately.

Nobody is my name. Starts as a very promising film, but then degenerates into something dull. 5/10

Fistful of Dollars. Good film. 7/10

For a Few Dollars More. Quite possibly the manliest film ever made. *bows down to Lee Van Cleef* 10/10.

I have not watched The Wild Bunch yet. But if you can appreciate an excellent Western and have not watched For A Few Dollars More, i highly recommend it.

Sergio Leone was a genius of western moviemaking, especially when he had Clint to work with. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is my personal favorite, but all of them are worthy.

just watched a couple of Highlander epis from season #4 and 5. Special thanks to Methos for inspiring me what to have for lunch. This chestnut and lentil stew by Apicius is really awesome. (Epi 4/18, 'through a glass, darkly', time index 15:30 to 15:37)

ooops, forgot the rating:

film: 5 out of 10. Brave acting on most parts, a few nice gags, somewhat weak script. Not really a dog but not a glorious epi either.

stew: 10 out of 10. Some work but the result is worth it. A sweetish stew is a little strange to the modern palate at first, but after you get over the initial surprise you'll find it very tasty. Apart from the chestnuts a cheap recipe.

Donovan: I keep hearing about these.

Yes, for a reason. They are awesome.

You shuld watch the originals. Not the american remakes that are in the pipeline :vomits:
If you are opposed to subs, there are dub'd torrents around that are not to badly done.

Millennium trilogy is a must

The Prestige - Another feather in Christopher Nolan's cap. Still has me slightly unnerved, like when I read Stranger in a Strange Land and was confronted with a device/power that flew in the face of all physical logic --and yet it worked, beautifully & hauntingly, for the purposes of the story. Very cool movie...still can't believe I'd gone without seeing this one for so long. 9/10

ooooh, I've seen that one, too. Creepy but excellent.
And Hugh Jackman looks so good in these old-fashioned clothes *sigh*

Watched Murder By Death today. Love this comedy! 10 out of 10 for idea, script, cast and acting. One of my favourite movies :)

Saw Megamind. Critics and Yahoo Users both rate it a B/B+.

Saw it for free as I still have money on my movie gift card, did not spring for the extra charge to watch it in 3D, and went to the theatre when there weren't many people there so I had great seat and mostly uninterrupted sound. Put me in a good frame of mind to watch the movie starting out.

The beginning dragged a little because of the long narrative. The animation was still good so it wasn't a complete spoiler.

The story is a little pat. However, the animation is still really good and there are some funny parts, some excitement, and some romance. Maybe it isn't a blockbuster A type of movie but I definitely give it an A just for being a nice, fun time and something I could go with the family and friends to see. And, even though the story is somewhat predictable, it is still fresh and not a sequel or a remake.
