Hokay. Thought of something related to the "Flash" trailer tonight, while walking The Dog. Decided to stick it here, because it really isn't related to "The Flash" movie. Alan Moore is/was a freakin' genius.
While walking The Dog I realized the Batcave scene in the "The Flash" trailer--the bit where the Batwing is hanging from the ceiling from chains--reminded me of NiteOwl's Owl Cave in "The Watchmen." Now, I don't have a source, but I'm told Moore created the Rorschach character as commentary on the mid '80s dark psychotic vigilante Batman that was so popular after Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns." When Matt Wagner got to do Grendel Batman crossover stories in the '90s, he pointed out that the first one was written with Batman in the Darknight Detective role while the second was much more Caped Crusader. So it got me thinking. Moore pairs Rorschach up with NiteOwl. Was Moore doing the same thing--Rorshach is the dark, pyschotic aspect of Batman while NiteOwl is the rich, smart, scientific aspect of the character? I can't say, but I bet he was, the clever bugger.
