After she released her album "Oops!... I did it again" in 2000, I claimed that within a decade Spears would be in Playboy, or some other gentlemen's magazine. The sex tape blows my expectations out of the water.
Now, this theory is based on Madonna's career. Why? Only because she's THE female pop singer of the 20th century. Ok, here's the theory: Any female pop singer who releases more than 3 chart-topping albums will appear nude (or very close to it) within 10 years of the beginning of her career. The reason for this disrobing is an attempt to restart or refresh a declining sex-bomb image. JLo, Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, and several others have done this.
Where female pop singers model themselves after Madonna, male pop singers use the MJ template. Start out young, join a boy band, go solo as a total wuss, sell a ton of records, go solo again as a total badass, sell a shitload more records and stamp your name in the history books, reform with original boy band for nostalgia, go solo one more time as a serious political influence, continue selling millions of records, quit the biz, buy extravagant stuff, live in obscurity, reappear on MTV for a mini comeback, return to seclusion in some country that's difficult to pronounce, die. You'll notice I left out the molestation bit. That serves to hurt your pop career more than help.
But, who cares? I'm just hoping that Fed-Ex gets his share of her money AND sells the tape. That's what I'd do.
