Where do the "WHOOOOOS!" come from? What possesses people to starting "WHOOOOING" when they're in a studio audience?
 
I think theres an illuminated sign saying "woooo" when one is needed.
 
And they have to do what the sign says?
 
Lemmings are chosen for studio people.
 
I believe that phenomenon started among live studio audiences in the 70s, when ABC sitcoms started adding more sexual innuendo in the mix with shows like Three's Company and Laverne & Shirley. It reached its peak with the Fox sitcom Married With Children, but is now just a meaningless sound uttered by theater and studio audiences to remind themselves that they're not at home watching something on TV.
 
ALSO: what's with americans applauding at the cinema? Who are they applauding for, the projectionist?
 
That one I don't have a problem with. It's just human nature.

But talking at the screen during a movie...that's just against God's plan. Makes me homicidal.
 
I am of two minds about talking back to the screen.

I guess I might as well say it: I'm OK with it when black people talk smack back to the screen, I don't like white people talk-back.
 
Where I live I'm usually surrounded by black people in theaters.

I don't think I've met a white person (over age 5 and sober) who talked back to a movie screen.
 
It'll show up on NBC's site if it's not already there. They're big YouTube Nazis.

Gah, I hate it when people do that.

Because then what do I do if I'm sitting in the middle of the row and want to leave? Say excuse me and shove my way through? Stand there awkwardly until they're done? Clap with them so I don't feel like the odd person out?

The awesome movie on the screen?

They applauded a couple times during The Incredible Hulk movie I saw last night.
 
The movie can't hear them!
