Scott 'Razor Ramon' Hall

Scott Hall, one of the most influential men in the history of professional wrestling, died Monday, according to WWE. He was 63. Hall, a two-time WWE Hall of Fame inductee, broke his hip last month, PWTorch reported, and had severe health complications during surgery to repair it over the weekend. Hall, nicknamed "The Bad Guy," made his biggest mark in wrestling as a founding member of the group that would go on to be called the New World Order (nWo). He left the then-WWF in 1996, where he was known as "Razor Ramon," to sign as a free agent with WCW. It was a major contract that ignited a series of lucrative free-agent signings going back and forth between WWF and WCW, during one of the hottest periods in pro wrestling. The 6-foot-7 Hall, a Maryland native who moved around often as a child due to his father's service in the military, got his pro-wrestling start in Championship Wrestling of Florida in 1984. He bounced around across the AWA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, WWC in Puerto Rico and WCW in the late 1980s and early 1990s, before hooking on with WWF in 1992. It was there that he starred as "Razor Ramon," a Miami-Cuban character inspired by "Scarface." In WCW, Hall won the tag team titles seven times (six with Nash as "The Outsiders"), the United States Heavyweight championship twice and World Television title once.

Jade Cargill hopes to inspire a future generation of Black female wrestlers

In front of a packed crowd on AEW Dynamite, Jade Cargill, rocking her white hair in glossy black gear, was preparing to fly like her favorite X-Men superhero, Storm. After weeks of competing in a fierce, 12-woman tournament for the 10 pounds of gold, she was just minutes away from winning it all. While throwing hands with Ruby Soho, Cargill stood on the top rope to set up her signature move, “Jaded.” Not only was this her first time attempting the move off a top rope, but it was also something she’s expressed fear of trying on a 2020 All Elite Wrestling podcast episode. Despite that, Cargill landed it and went in for the three-count to become the inaugural AEW TBS women's champion. Cargill’s journey stems from her lifelong love for wrestling merged with her athletic background. She grew up in Gifford, Florida, where she would do everything from wrestling with her brother Shawn in the front yard to catching lizards and occasionally jumping off rooftops.

Mississippi Department of Human Services sues retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre, former pro wrestlers Brett DiBiase, Ted DiBiase Sr. (The Million Dollar Man) and Ted "Teddy" DiBiase Jr. over welfare misspending

The Mississippi Department of Human Services on Monday sued retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre, three former pro wrestlers and several other people and businesses to try to recover millions of misspent welfare dollars that were intended to help some of the poorest people in the United States. The lawsuit says the defendants "squandered" more than $20 million in money from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families anti-poverty program. The suit was filed less than two weeks after a mother and son who ran a nonprofit group and an education company in Mississippi pleaded guilty to state criminal charges tied to the misspending. Nancy New, 69, and Zachary New, 39, agreed to testify against others in what State Auditor Shad White has called Mississippi's largest public corruption case in the past two decades.

"The Nature Boy" will make the walk one final time. Ric Flair, one of the most well-known and revered professional wrestlers in history, will perform in one last match July 31, sources told ESPN on Monday. Flair, 73, will step into the ring at the Nashville Fairgrounds on an independent card that will stream live on FITE TV. Flair, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time world champion, has not wrestled in a match since Sept. 12, 2011, a bout for Impact Wrestling against longtime rival Sting. His last WWE match was in 2008 at WrestleMania XXIV against Shawn Michaels. Flair's opponent for July 31 remains unclear. It's also unknown whether it will be a singles or tag team match. Flair, known for his "Woo!" catchphrase and famous strut, has been posting videos on social media of him training with current AEW wrestler Jay Lethal. The legendary wrestler asked for his release from WWE in 2021 and received it. Flair was most known for his work in the NWA and WCW, which was WWE's biggest rival in the 1980s and 1990s. But he also performed in WWE for parts of two decades, as a wrestler and on-screen manager.
