If you don't know, now ya know
Everything is all about chain restaurants. I mean, you can't get a decent bagel, the pizza mostly sucks, and there aren't a whole helluva lot of mom 'n pop restaurants. Well, if you go into downtown LA, there are some. But they're hella expensive. I do miss my corner cheesesteak/pizza joint. They do have some good chains that aren't on the East Coast:

Carl's Jr.
Jack in the Box
Fazuli's (italian fast-food, but GOOD!)
Tony's Mexican
In-N-Out Burger (the fucking best hamburgers you can get)
Fatburger


They also seem lo LOVE Subway here, there's one on every corner.
 
What about DENNY'S!?
 
Fuck me, Denny's is on every corner as well. Also Sizzler. YUCK. Laker_Girl loves Sizzler, but I hate 'em!
 
I imagine most of LA is one giant entanglement of Starbucks stores. Like Triffids.
 
It's the same down here in Floridaland. I think it might just be that way everywhere that tourists flock, except when the city was there before the tourist attractions.
 
We even have a Subway in town. Well, it was the last time I was there, neds might have fired bombed it by now.
 
AND NO DUNKIN' DONUTS IN CALIFORNIA!!!!

None at all. We have Yum Yum Donuts, which is similar though.

BDM, the best restaurants in the area (you're in the Valley, right?) are The Melting Pot in Thousand Oaks, Mirage in Sherman Oaks, and Roy's in Woodland Hills.

Been to The Melting Pot back East, but Fondue isn't my thang. I actually live in Rancho Cucamonga now, but we do have a Melting Pot there. I haven't had time to explore, but I'm sure there are some good family restaurants in R.C.

Yum Yum is NO WAY even close to Dunkin' Donuts. Hell, I'm-a take me a trip to Vegas soon, just to get a big ol' cuppa cawfee and a salt bagel! YuM!
 
Do they have Krispy Kreme out there?

And I heard Sonic was pretty good, but that was a while back.
 
Krispy Kreme is awful, in my opinion. There's one right near my apartment. Shoot, I live on the "main drag" in RC, there's everything right near me.

No Sonic, but I did go to a couple in Texas, when I drove out here from Philly. Driving cross-country, now there's a story for another day!
 
Cross-country trips are always fun. Especially when you're on a motorcycle going 90mph on a desert highway and you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a cloud of migrating butterflies.
 
Krispy Kreme is ok when their donuts are hot. To be honest I have no urge to go there, never been much of a donut fan.
 
Dunkin' Donuts are pretty good. The Toasted Coconut are excellent, they weigh like 2 pounds and fill you up but good.
 
Have you seen the Dunkin' Donuts coffee they now sell in stores?
 
It's crap. Somthing about a Pakistani who doesn't speak English pouring your coffee makes it taste so much better.

Also, go to Barney's Beanery.
Barney's is now in three locations, the original West Hollywood location,
which was was once the final destination for westbound travelers on Route 66,
our Santa Monica location on the 3rd st.Promenade,
and our Old Town Pasadena location on Colorado Boulevard.

Our new location at 250 N. 1st Street in Burbank
will be opening November, 2008.
