I don't know how accurate those dislike numbers are but they seem believable to me. Young people by and large don't care about Star Trek and are likely to be as put-off by increasingly desperate attempts to appeal to them as the remaining fans are.
They had the perfect opportunity after Picard ended to set a story in that time frame, with TNG, DS9 and Voyager actors available, you could even throw live acton lower decks into the mix, but no, they want to follow up that popular show, discovery.
It's weird that TrekBBS has gone over to actually being critical again -I remember when Discovery started and every episode was getting 10/10 ratings and "YOU'RE JUST NOT GIVING IT A CHANCE" type posts...I guess they've been worn down over the years.
They had waited so many years for a new Trek show that when they reached the Discovery oasis in the desert, and found that there wasn't any water, they just drank the sand.
I don't understand that mentality anymore. It's not 1993, nobody's obligated to keep returning to a show that sucks in the hopes that it "finds it's footing by season 3" just because it's labeled with a recognizable brand.
I watched and thoroughly enjoyed The Orville, so it's not like it's *impossible* to make good shows like Star Trek.
