Sources: Dallas Mavericks acquire Christian Wood from Houston Rockets for 26th pick in NBA draft, 4 players


The Dallas Mavericks are acquiring center/power forward, 6-foot-11 Christian Woods from the Houston Rockets in exchange for the No. 26 pick in the 2022 NBA draft and four players with expiring contracts, sources told ESPN. Dallas will send Boban Marjanovic, Marquese Chriss, Trey Burke and Sterling Brown to Houston, sources said, creating roster flexibility and adding a productive big man. Wood, 26, averaged 19.1 points and 9.9 rebounds during his two seasons with the Rockets. He is due to make $14.3 million for the 2022-23 season, the final year of his contract. The Rockets now have the Nos. 3, 17 and 26 picks in the June 23 draft.

Los Angeles Lakers acquire Orlando Magic's No. 35 pick in 2022 NBA draft; Cleveland Cavaliers acquire No. 49


The Los Angeles Lakers have traded into Thursday night's NBA draft, acquiring the Orlando Magic's No. 35 for a future second-round pick and cash.Orlando will receive the better of either the Lakers' or Washington's second-round pick (which is owed to Los Angeles) in 2028, the Magic announced.The deal allows the Lakers to buy their way back into the draft after trading away both of its own picks. Los Angeles' eighth overall pick belongs to New Orleans as part of the Pelicans' mammoth haul from the trade of Anthony Davis, while the Lakers' second-round pick was moved in that same multiteam deal to Washington before eventually ending up with San Antonio. Orlando still holds the first and 32nd overall selections in Thursday's draft.

The Portland Trail Blazers are acquiring Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant for a protected 2025 first-round pick and additional draft assets, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.The Blazers have been pursuing Grant to pair with All-NBA guard Damian Lillard for over a year and now land him and absorb his $21 million salary using a trade exception, sources said. The deal delivers the Pistons $43 million in salary cap space for free agency, and gives them the fifth and 36th picks in Thursday's draft.
