Panthers QB Will Grier admits there's a "little bit" of pressure in making his first start for his hometown NFL team that he grew up cheering for. "Whatever we can do to win the game is good enough for me," he said.
The Panthers claimed off waivers defensive back T.J. Green, a 2016 second-round pick out of Clemson. Green was drafted by the Colts and played in 31 games, starting 11, in his first two seasons. He spent time in Seattle in 2018 after being waived/injured and was on New Orleans' active roster last week before being waived.
The Panthers have ruled out LB Shaq Thompson (ankle), edge rusher Marquis Haynes (knee) and OT Garrett McGhin (ankle). WR Curtis Samuel (knee) and DT Vernon Butler (illness) are questionable.
Panthers coach Perry Fewell said it would mean a lot for Christian McCaffrey to become the NFL's third member of the 1,000-1,000 club. McCaffrey needs 186 receiving yards over the final two games to get there. Asked if he would be feeding McCaffrey the ball, Fewell said, "As much as we can.''
