Carolina Panthers News
Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady said the critical thing for his unit isn't running more as much as staying ahead of the chains. "Whether it's a pass or run, staying in a down and distance that you can follow a good run with a run,'' he said. Brady added he and head coach Matt Rhule are on the same page as far as wanting to run more and stay on the field.
Panthers QB Sam Darnold on what the past few days have been like for him since being benched on Sunday: "Obviously, for me personally it's just one of those things I have to … I think I told you guys this after the game, I have to take it in and handle it however I handle it. That's pretty much the end of all of that. I'm not going to go into detail with how I handle it.''
Four straight losses, the benching of quarterback Sam Darnold, a defense that can't stop an undermanned Giants team. What else could go wrong for the Panthers, now 3-4? The 3-0 start that seemed real doesn't seem so real anymore.
You can't put the entire first half woes on Panthers QB Sam Darnold. There were three drops. But his interception in the red zone and intentional grounding from the end zone that resulted in a safety has Carolina in a bind heading into the third quarter trailing 5-3. The third quarter, by the way, has been a nightmare for the Panthers this season.
