Cassie (aka Summer Reading 2008)

oh! Across the Nightingale Floor. Liam Hearn.... there are a couple sequels.....good stuff.

<The Road won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2007>

we're starting with that. Thanks for your recommendations tho.

I couldn't get into the Time-Traveler's Wife. The writing grated on my nerves.

Richard and Judy liked it.

they read books?!?!

During sex.

I just ordered The Road, a Christopher Tolkien book and the first Buffy season 8 comics collection. QUITE A MIX?

@ Cock, I didn't care for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, too Harry Potter-ish, and I am burned out on HP.

I'M SO EXCITED WE'RE ALL GOING TO BE READING THE SAME BOOK TOGETHER! All the relatives will be gone by Saturday, and I think I could really use a good book.. and a bottle of vodka, maybe some crack, too.

AND MY AXE.

LOL LET'S TURN THE NOBLE TRAGIC GIMLI INTO A COMEDY CHARACTER

I really enjoyed 'Outlander' and it's sequels by Diana Gabaldon. TOtal chick books, but, I got a breast reduction afterwards, and threw away the Virginia Slims.....and I'm back to normal. Seriously, though,.....great books, great characters, good dialogue, plot was satisfying.....

What is the series about?

I like to read chick books sometimes, some of them are smart and funny. I don't like the ones where the chick hates the guy, then they are stuck alone together somehow, then they hate and lust after each other until the sex.. then it's LOVE. lol.

^ Cassie's not kidding about those things being formulaic -once when I was about 11 the family dragged me to some ancient relative's cottage and all she had to read in the place were shelves and shelves of blinking Harlequin Romances! AKKKKKKK - for a person who can't not read it was torture!!! bleh! *hairball*

The first three Gabaldon books were great. But anything after that sucked.

Plus, after I met her, my opinion of her books went down a notch.

Oooh, gossip!

I could shock you with the intimate details I'm privy to.

ooooh!
can you divulge juicy tidbits thinly but cleverly disguised so that we know who yer talking about but they cant sue you for libel!?!?!
