Cassie (aka Summer Reading 2008)

I have no idea who she is, so tell me everything!

LoL...well, it would only work if you're familiar with romance authors. My boss at the used bookstore I worked at years ago was friends/enemies with a lot of them. Then, I got involved in their conventions, and workshops, partly because I'm a writer, partly because I'm a reviewer, so I have stories of my own.

But it's no fun if you don't know who I'm talking about.

how about general scandalous stuff? Like, are these "Romance Authors'"conventions wild orgies behind the scenes?
Are there guys writing as women?

DO ANY OF THEM HAVE DWARVES UNDER THEIR BEDS?

What is the series about?

ohmygodtheresawholeforumaboutit

people are crazy. it was a good book and all, but jeez....get real.

its about a post ww2 nurse that gets sucked back in time to the 14 or 1500s scotland and is immediately abducted by highlanders. the characters are all very well done, and there's lots of lovely suffering and difficulty.

Hehehehehe...

There's one author who fantasizes about being raped, and therefore every heroine in her book gets raped. Same author also has a massive drinking problem.

Another author wrote a very popular historical and based the characters on her son and daughter...and they were the COUPLE IN THE BOOK???!!!???

A couple of authors are indeed men, but there's nothing secretive about that. They have pretty generic names, though, so unless you knew about which ones, you couldn't tell.

The parties at the conventions can get out of control, especially because a lot of the male models who pose on the books are there. I'll leave that to your imagination. <wg>

None of this surprises me, but does arouse me slightly.

Some of the romance authors I used to like, write crap now.

SHOULD WE START a SEPERATE THREAD TO DISCUSS "THE ROAD"?

Yeah, maybe you could sticky it too. PLEASE.

Have you started reading it yet? I haven't got mine, they just shipped it Monday, so I hope it gets here next week.

The Road is in my house as we speak! (erm, ok, read)

I started reading a bit and remembered how depressing I find post-apocalyptic stories.
So I'll stop reading and wait for y'all to get your copies.

Nobody's read it yet, right?

OH, PRAH, DONT LET US DOWN!

Copy hasn't arrived yet.

I bought mine a year ago but still haven't started it LOL pfft

just finished The Road about a week ago, shear coincidence. I'm very eager to get your impressions.

I do a great Jimmy Stewart.

:rimshot:

lol.

I'm still waiting for the mail man to bring The Road to me.

i have read it ///recently

Got the Nora Roberts new one, Tribute, at HEB today. I'll start it this evening. Over at the sibling's right now. Having a nice, old southern dinner, so I think it would be rude to start it while I'm at their house. :)
