The trouble with the world is, people actually listen to the words that network execs say, and even remember those words later on.
Network execs have no idea what they are talking about. They make up stuff to justify whatever has already occurred. They're usually winging it in interviews.
If Community's ratings pick up (they won't, it's up against Big Bang fer fucksake), the execs will tell you why they were so smart. If it tanks, it's the show's fault for sucking.

History 101 sounds really good (even if The Simpsons did that joke a decade ago). Bit of a lukewarm review there in general, but at least it's not awful.
