Current missing items

There is, like, a portal to an alternate dimension that is between the floor and about 17" off the floor. Picked a couple ticks off The Dog this morning. Smooshed them on the nearby coffee table. When I was done petting The Dog I swept them off the table and into the palm of my hand. But somehow missed. And they disappeared like the Bermuda Triangle. Just gone.

Later I was working at my desk (which, truthfully, is more like 30" off the floor) and dropped my pen. It *disappeared*. Looked all over the floor and it was nowhere. Moved everything like wastebasket and flip-flops up off the floor for unobstructed view. Still no pen. OK. Fuck you. I will win. Go get a flashlight to look under the filing cabinet part of the desk and the nearby bed if that's what it takes. On the way back into the room I step on the missing pen. Where was it 1 minute ago when I was looking for it? Who knows?

I found my cards

I can't find my favorite pink shirt.

A friend of mine is missing a stack of books.

Maybe I will find them both when I clean out my vehicle.

Current missing items from TrollKingdom: AN ARCADE.

Well
Apparently there is now an arcade on the current official administration of this country that I live.

This one is noteworthy for how I found it while not looking: I have a classic first gen Leatherman multitool with the leather belt sheath with a snap closure. I had one that I snapped the tip of the blade off, but that is irrelevant. I was wearing it when I hit a deer on my motorcycle and the bottom ("male", I guess) part of the snap got ripped off as I was sliding down the road on my back (always wear your safety gear, kids), so I just tuck the flap into the body of the sheath to secure it. The "button" of the "female" side of the snap fits into the hole left by the "male" side. The bottom of the sheath is worn enough that I lined the inside with athletic tape to keep it from coming out and having the multitool fall out the bottom of the sheath. I guess all this is irrelevant too. The point is, I'm quite fond of my classic Leatherman and you can't just buy them anymore. I do have a 2nd generation one that also has a leather sheath with a snap closure but it's not the same.

Anyhow, I lost it yesterday. I'd been repairing a towel bar at the rental I'm selling. First I used it to straighten one of the mounting brackets that was bent as the renter ripped the towel bar off the wall. Then I used it to pull out a wall anchor that had only gone in partway before breaking. I went home for lunch and realized it wasn't in the sheath in the afternoon. Since I was back at the house by then, I checked both places where I'd worked on repairing the towel bar but didn't see it, so I hoped it had somehow fallen out during my post-lunch nap. Or when I was sitting behind the shed with my dog while she was hoping to catch a groundhog unawares. It wasn't in either of these places. I couldn't imagine it had fallen out while walking the dog so I decided I'd check again at the other house when I took a load of stuff down there.

But as I finished unloading the trunk, there was my Leatherman. See, I had a taillight turn signal bulb burn out and to replace it you need to loosen 3 nuts. Apparently I'd gotten the Leatherman out before realizing the nuts were only finger-tight. And then as I w...oh, no. Never mind. What it was is that I've got a "ducktail" spoiler on the car and when it got installed, the body shop put it a tiny fraction overlapping the taillight bezel--which, astonishingly, has to come out to change any bulbs. So I was using the blade to pry the bezel past the side of the spoiler. When I got it free I must've been so busy trying to remember how to get the bulb out, not lose any of the nuts, slot 3 captive bolts through 3 holes that you can't actually see while doing it, and then get the nuts back on. By the time I was done I apparently forgot to put the knife back in its sheath. I'd forgotten all this. If I hadn't had a load of stuff in the trunk, I'd probably wouldn't have found the damned thing until the nest time a bulb burned out.
