Dollhouse discussion thread

But Eliza Duckshoe is hot!

She is hot, maybe the writers couldn't come up with anything better cause they were too busy staring at her ass.

I knew the show was in trouble when they raced those motorcycles into a Chinese restaurant/dance club, hopped off the bikes, and started dancing.

Dollhouse won the download race.

I certainly didn't think it was awful. Didn't really feel like a Whedon show, but it was watchable and the second half of the episdoe was pretty good. My main complain would be the section between her two "missions" where she was walking around all spacey. The dialogue was pretty poor and porly delivered...maybe if Summer Glau had been playing Echo it would have been fine, but Dushku couldn't pull off "something fell on me". And the "have you ever tried to wipe an actual slate" line at the start was bad. No one would ever say that.

BUT it was good enough to watch again, I thought. The ending was quite creepy with them all sleeping in their little compartments.

Dushku was good when she was "in character" (just not as good when spacey), the handler guy was pretty good (wasn't he in the Matrix?) and Tahmoh Penikett was pretty good too and it should be interesting when he meets Dushku's character (which is bound to happen by the end of the season.) No one else stood out. Will watch next week.

I really liked it.

It didn't blow me away, no, but apart from the Firefly pilot I can't remember a pilot that did (Buffy and Angel's weren't the best episodes).

But I do see that this could be good if it goes the distence. Dushku was really good, I thought, it'll be interesting to see how acting range as she goes through different personalities. I'd agree with Wacky that her Echo seemed a bit... off. Maybe that'll get better with time, I hope so. You can see what Whedon is trying to do.

ANYWAY if we good SEASONS out of this (and I hope we do), I think it could turn into something really good.

Also it's worth noting that Eliza Dushku still looks as hot in Dollhouse as she did in Buffy ten years ago.

OMG! those were the exact four minutes I watched the show for!! I was bored and channel surfing and didnt realize it was Dollhouse...just stopped when I saw Eliza but then assumed it was some redonks movie [after the aforementioned action scene] so turned off the TV. shit! wanted to give Dollhouse a go for Joss' sake. well, next week I'll watch for it.

Well I guess that guy's fantasy was riding bikes into a restaurant then dancing with a hot chick in a ridiculously short dress, so that's what he hired her for. It was stupid, but maybe the guy's stupid.

It was ok. I don't know how much staying power the show has though. I'll watch it next week to see if it improves any, hopefully it will.

I didn't think Eliza did a good job when playing a character or playing the zombie.. she's hot, and that's about it. When she saw the kidnapper and had an asthma attack I rolled my eyes again, lol. Then the ridiculous shower scene in the house.. come on, they can't even shower in private?

Zombies don't need privacy I guess.

It saves on showers.

Perhaps they are trying to save money.

Which is why they used the old Wolfram and Hart Office I suppose.

(YES TOMTREK I KNOW IT'S A NEW SET BUT IT DOES LOOK LIKE IT.)

I wasn't going to say anything!

I'm guessing that as the show goes on, the Echo character will get more and more lively as she retains more memories or flashes back more often. I think the blank slate comment at the beginning was pure foreshadowing. She'll eventually get harder and harder to handle as Echo.

And I'll get harder and harder handling her (sorry.)

Why would they have the zapping station right there where the zombies can come in and see them? They don't even lock the door!

Poor security it sounds like.

ALSO ALSO.. why is it that flashing lights can erase memory? I could understand if they jacked into the person's head or something, but you just lean back and a strobe light wipes your slate, WTF?

I don't think they have yet to explain the technology.
