Dollhouse discussion thread

OH.. the chick version of Rutger Hauer, Dichen Lachman.

She was the doll who was being programmed for the first time in the pilot and Echo walked in (and made eye contact with her, so will Echo be "imprinted" on Sierra? Hmm") and she came in at the end with guns and used to be in Neighbours (where her acting was appallling.)

Let's hope as some sort of robot she'll be better animated.

Maybe it will turn out all the dolls ARE robots.

Cherry 2000!

Oh.. well I don't have a problem with feminists. I kinda like having the right to vote, and work, and own property, and wear shorts, drink beer, have sex, say fuck you if I want.. etc.

There's no such thing as a feminazi. I remember when that fat ignorant fuck, Rush Limbaugh used to say it with such glee. I don't know why anyone would repeat a stupid word he made popular.

I have a pill that will make you chill, take it.

Feminists weren't the only people that made that crap happen sweetness. We strong, intelligent women that happen to believe that a mother's place is in the home made that happen too. The only thing feminists have done on their own is emasculate men and make good homemakers feel like failures because they don't work outside the home. Meanwhile statistics show that children whose mother was in the home during their schoolage years generally have higher self esteem, better grades and a better out look on life in general. AND NO ONE CAN DO IT ALL, NOT WOMEN AND NOT MEN.

Feminazi is a great word, regardless of who coined it.

Aww.. sweetness, you've swallowed the conservative political dogma, hook, line and sinker.

You don't have to work outside the home to be a feminist. You can raise your children and be a feminist. You should educate yourself a little.

^^Oh sweet cheecks, please. You and I both know we were talking about feminists in the most commonly thought of sense. Don't play dumb, it's so unflattering.

You really don't know much about feminism. It's only the most commonly thought of sense if you get all your sense from Fox news and Rush Limbaugh.

That's OK, you can pretend to be your (future?) husband's chattel if it makes you happy. You can abstain from voting. You can volunteer to make less money than your male coworkers. You can let the men in your life make all your reproductive decisions for you. You can be seen and not heard ;)

You are a feminist. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

I didn't say I wasn't a feminist. Perhaps you weren't thinking of it the same way I am. I'm thinking Gloria Stienam, every woman is a victim feminism. I hate that shit and it's a load of crap. My mom, way back in the early 1960's, before the radical feminist movement, was recruited by Gino Robair to work in his salon. Once hired he told my mom that she would make a certain percentage and when she asked him what percentage he made and found that it was a higher percentage my mom told him flat out, "I make what you make or I walk." My mom made what he made and made him a great deal of money in the process. Women don't have to be victims to be treated equally. No one had to "empower" my mother, she was confident enough in her own abilities to demand equal treatment and didn't need 500 braless women behind her to do it.

I don't know what you're arguing about then. No one likes extremists. There were women fighting for social equality long before Gloria Steinem came along. It's always the fruitcakes who end up defining an otherwise worthwhile endeavor.

All feminists get tarred with the "femiNazi" brush, not just women who hate men and think we need to overthrow the current social order. I think this is why so many women don't consider themselves feminists, even though they can't imagine not having the rights they have today. I think the word "feminist" should be taken back from the radicals.

A woman's place is in my bed.

I guess I don't get what the problem is then, LG. So what if the women in her life inspired her to do this show because of their own feminism? Weren't you inspired by your mother's right to demand equal pay from some hair guy I've never heard of? Why does a family member being a professor of women's studies make her a feminazi? Did she say in the article that she's a man-hating cunt who thinks all women should work outside the home? *confused*

I'm a feminist, and I have no problems whatsoever if I want to stay home one day and raise my kids. I'm more afraid of the Milknazi's who demand that all babies be breast fed than a feminazi.

A FEMINAZIBOT

Yo, this episode sucked.

I actually kinda liked it.

Problem is, I can't stand half the main cast - either don't care or they just plain suck. Sierra was stupid this week, British woman sucks, science guy sucks.
Echo is okay, I really like her handler and Helo and his Russian guy are alright, too. The doctor has potential, the security guy just sucks.

The underlying complexities are promising. I like where the show could go but then they just kinda fuck up the A-story. This one wasn't horrible but Sierra's role was annoying + sucked. Plus, WTF was it with the security guy getting all whiny just because he's a fan? Seriously...

Apart from that, Dushku seems batshit crazy - don't know what it was, might've been an interview or something where she said how she felt so much better since she stopped drinking alcohol but it sure as hell didn't sound nice.

If Eliza was only a better actress! I'm not complaining about the brainless Echo, she's supposed to be wooden, but when she's trying to play these characters she's just not pulling it off. She doesn't convince me.

I missed Helo getting shot, how did that happen? Was he at the concert, or did that happen at the (Russian?) dude's party? OH and that guy turns out to be a doll, how convenient.

Worst casting on the show is the guy playing Topher. Sierra didn't bother me as much as he did.

Victor (Helo's source and also SECRETLY AN OPERATIVE) told him to go to some place underground where the dollhouse would be (because it's an old abandoned warehouse or something). Said he didn't personally believe it was going to be there. Turns out it wasn't but the RUSSIAN MAFIA WAS THERE TO SHOOT HELO! OMG! (but he killed/incapacitated them all)

Topher just completely sucks. He gets way too much screentime. Sierra just isn't pretty enough.

Sierra's face is too pointy. She's probably a better actress than Eliza though!

Don't care! Women don't have to be good actresses as far as I'm concerned (unless they're called Cate Blanchett). It's why I love the new Knight Rider. :D

Oh lord.. there's no hope for you.
