Game of Thrones season 7

7.5 'Eastwatch'

Daenerys demands loyalty from the surviving Lannister soldiers; Jon heeds Bran's warning about White Walkers on the move; Cersei vows to vanquish anyone or anything that stands in her way.

Only three episodes to go (including this one) if you want reminded of how fast life passes by!

The director (who did last week's and this) says he thinks this is the better episode. Though that might just be because it wasn't meticulously storyboarded so he actually got to direct stuff.

Okay, why was Kevin Eldon playing a gold cloak now? He was an actor the last time we saw him. Is he supposed to be the same character? Would have really have quit acting and left Braavos to go to King's Landing and be a cop? Clearly this is the most important thing that must be discussed.

Gendry lol. Just Ghost to remember now!

It was good that Jorah and Thoros remembered that they knew each other.

Arya should have stole someone's face to sneak around more effectively. You can't outsneak Littlefinger, the master of leaning against walls and watching people.

I wish they would make mention of how much time is passing by in episodes. I have no problem with the faster pace (there's literally only eight episodes left ever now so it's needed) and I'm not saying they have to show long journeys taking several episodes or anything like that, SO DON'T SAY I AM, but they should at least make mention of time. Like say someone could mention how many months Jon has been away from Winterfell or Dany could perhaps mention the logistics of moving a huge Dothraki army hundreds of miles in time to ambush the Lannisters. You don't have to show the details but at least act like there still are...details.

Ah, so that was Kevin Eldon. I guess he is the same character because why else would they have him shown so prominently when there are millions of other actors available? Considering the play he was performing in before was a satire about the Lannisters it was a good move to give it up.

Yes, the foreshortening of time really could do with some acknowledgement. People used to spend entire seasons travelling distances that now take seconds. Of course it's good to keep the story going, but it undermines what a big deal it is for so and so to travel all the way to wherever. How long did Sam clean out potties and transcribe books before he gave up his lifelong dream? Obviously some time judging by the montage, but we don't really know. At least now Cersei will have a bump to help us tell the passage of time. Unless it's an alien baby.

Anyway, I was surprised they killed Dickon. I felt like he was going places. I'm curious what the dragons are eating btw. They use up a lot of energy roaring and flapping around aimlessly.

I liked how many times the word "friend" was used when Jorah was reunited with Dany.

OMG THEY KILLED BILLY BONES :rwmad:

What was on the paper Arya read? Arya should stab Littlefinger, IMO.

The paper was...

The letter Sansa was forced to send to Robb telling him to give up his war and bend the knee to Joffrey.

I guess maybe Kevin Eldon being a gold cloak now was to show that Cersei's so desperate for disposable men that she's hiring anyway now...or something.

Maybe he's another faceless man. Or maybe it's Jaqen H'ghar.

It definitely takes something away from the show to see everything transpire so much faster. As much as ive enjoyed things so far there something about this season so far that bothered me. I couldn't quite pinpoint it but I think it's the accelerated pace of storytelling. But I suppose it makes sense because the last six seasons have so firmly established everyone, and now most of the cast appears in 3 main locations theres no further need to drag it out. That, and I guess they're try to cram the rest into the few limited episodes they have left.

I wonder how shitty Daenerys is gonna feel when she finds out she fried the family of the guy who saved Ser Jorah. Will Sam even give a shit? Another case of foreshadowing when Sam grabbed the family sword. Do you think Gilly grabbed that annulment scroll on the way out of the citadel?

I think they gave it to Little Sam to read so they probably took it with them. Of course I thought the whole point of Bran being able to see everything was so he could easily reveal plot points like Jon's parentage...but I guess they'd also need proof because most people aren't just going to go on Bran's word

I hope HBO ignores them and everyone just pretends the spoilers aren't out there and doesn't read them or watch any unaired episodes. Part of what makes the show so enjoyable is all the speculation.

"Should be good", but more like "it is good, based on spoilers I saw on Twitter and comments from smug people who downloaded it". Disgusting.

So I was at the dinner table last night when the topic turns to SNL, you know since I am there I try to turn every topic to SNL. (Just kidding mostly) and one of my friends say that they went to the SNL showing when Peter Dinklage was the host. 0_0
AND they also went to a preview showing of SNL once and then went back to their hotel room to watch the actual show.

OH shit, an undead dragon!

I'm mad Littlefinger turned Arya and Sansa against each other, why can't they (especially Arya) see that Littlefinger is a snake?

Jon and Dany almost made the sex!

Yeah having Arya and Sansa fight is SO FUCKING DUMB because they have literally no reason to do so. It just makes Arya look like an actual insane person. Why can't they just be nice sisters who are nice to each other? Who both realise that the other have gone through stuff and so put away their dumb childish competitions? But no Ayra's still all "YOU were wearing dresses LIKE A GIRL which is much worse than me acting like a boy" which is UGGHHHGHHHHH FUCK.

AND YEAH they're really doing crazy things with time right now. How long were they surrounded by the army of the dead, exactly? They were there while Gendry ran to Eastwatch, for the Maester to send a raven to Dany, for the raven to fly all the way to Dragonstone and for the time it took Dany to fly back up there. The show made it look like it took a few hours, tops.

BUT YEAH IT WAS COOL SEEING THE FUCKING DRAGON MELTING WHITE WALKERS FINALLY AND ZOMBIE DRAGONS ARE ALSO COOL.

Yeah this was another episode for me that showed how much the show has improved in the area of looking amazing but gotten worse in terms of writing. There were so many beautiful shots of the Fellowship marching North of the Wall and dragons breathing fire and stuff. We finaly got to see the undead bear they didn't have the budget for in season two or whenever it would have appeared. And there was some good writing at least in the dialogue between fun character pairings like Tormund and the Hound. Flaming swords are good!

BUT YEAH the plan to capture a Wight was REALLY STUPID. Why not just ask Dany to fly them all in in the first place? Would have been a lot easier! They seemed to be marching quite far but Gendry's fine to run back to Eastwatch (through a totally white environment he's never visited before) in what seems like a couple of hours? Ravens are basicall emails now? They could have at least had Dany be at Eastwatch and come up with some reason why she didn't want to go North initially. But of course she shows up right at the exact second they need her even though realistically it would have been weeks(?) for her to get there. And why did Jon decide to keep killing zombies while everyone else was safely onboard Drogon? It's his fault Viseryion died.

Sansa hasn't trusted Littlefinger all season but now he's suddenly her only confidant? Arya should know he can't be trusted too since she witnessed his scheming at Harrenhaal. And yeah Arya, having a bag full of HUMAN FACES actually is a bit disturbing and maybe you should explain yourself!?
