Gay films that I recommend

Oooh! I can't remember the name, but it's Leo DiCaprio playing a poet in the 20th century who falls in love with Professor Lupin. I think that's right...That's a good one.

I know what film you are referring to & i cannot remember that name either. It's one i have yet to see.

My mom will look sideways at me sometimes when I mention that I'm watching a gay film, but she doesn't get it. Most of them are better than the regular romances out there. Imagine Me & You is one of my favorite films of all time. It's great acting, great story, and it's got Giles in it for Zeus's sake. How can you go wrong?

This movie is very funny!! I came across a vhs rip of this whilst browsing one day. It has not been released on dvd yet. It is somewhat dated in content, but still funny thanks to Redd Foxx.

Brokeback Mountain is every bit the classic film that people say it is. Truly moving, great cast. RIP Heath.

Oooooh, but I HATE As Good As It Gets. Politically correct claptrap. Unbelievable central love story. Jack is just being Jack with OCD and is too cute for his own good. And Helen Hunt (once again) can't sustain the same accent for a whole movie. Waste of Oscars all around. HOWEVER, whatshisname was okay as the gay guy. But 100 other actors could have been just as good. This movie makes me ashamed to be a bleeding heart lefty.

PRIEST and EDGE OF SEVENTEEN are fantastic.

I've downloaded Philip Morris but haven't watched it yet. Maybe tonight is the night! :D

But the dog was cuddly cute & so was Greg Kinnear. ;)

I am not usually a big fan of Jack Nicholson, but i really loved him in this film...perfect role for him, but the age difference between himself & Helen Hunt was a bit much, still i feel they pulled it off. I thought the interaction between Nicholson, Kinnear & the dog made for the funniest moments!

Actually Eggs, this is one of my favorite films, how dare you bash it! :)

PLAY DEAD (2001)
playdead2001.jpg

There are no youtube vids pertaining to this film. This was just uploaded at gay-torrents.net for download. I do not think this has ever been released on VHS or DVD. I have come across 2 different rips, one being of average quality & the other being utter shit quality! Anywho, if you read the tla review below you may think the necro (dead hunk) aspect of this film is disgusting, but it is handled in a very comical way...so IMO that makes it acceptable. :)

The comedic chemistry between the lead actor (Nathan Bexton) & the little girl is fun to watch. Frank Zappa's daughter (Diva) looks almost identical to a young Liza Minnelli. Very eerie.

tlavideo.com Review

Dale Spitler, excellently played by the adorable Nathan Sexton, is a small town gay boy who hasn't had much of a chance to take his intense adolescent sexual fantasies and turn them into reality. His weekends are spent babysitting for 9 year-old Dustine, who has a remarkably morbid sense of humor (she plays dead a lot). Dustine's mom Darlene is a trailer park slut, but Dustine isn't really Darlene's kid anyway - her first husband left her behind! You get the picture –it’s a typical day in rural America until Dale's best friend Violet (Frank Zappa’s daughter Diva) has a freak accident and blows up the wrestling star Raymond's pickup. She run's to Darlene's trailer - fetches Dale and Dustine and off they go on an evening's adventure that will bring new meaning to the word kinky. Dale has always lusted after Raymond - he was jerking off to his yearbook photo earlier that evening - so when this gorgeous, muscular, smooth body presents itself he just can't resist - so what if he's dead! The acting is sometimes over the top and the jokes are ridiculous, but there is something irresistible about Play Dead.

I've seen this movie! And it's actually pretty funny. Nathan Bexton was the cutie that Jame Duval was wooing in Nowhere, and he's still pretty cute here, without the blond dye job. The ending is very Araki-esque as well. I could see it again.

I haven't included any Gregg Araki flicks yet, other than Mysterious Skin (which was awesome), but there's always The Living End and Totally Fucked Up.

I wouldn't include Doom Generation or Nowhere though. He seemed to be against gays having any chance of connecting in those two movies. But I could watch James Duval undress any time...
