The Cowboys have picked up the 2019 options for center Joe Looney and linebacker Joe Thomas in addition to wide receiver Allen Hurns. Looney started every game in 2018, filling in for Pro Bowler Travis Frederick, who dealt with the effects of Guillain-Barre Syndrome all year. Thomas was a valuable reserve with position flexibility. The Cowboys also signed defensive lineman Daniel Ross to his exclusive rights free agent tender worth $645,000.
The Cowboys have signed linebacker Justin March-Lillard to a one-year deal, adding more linebacker and special teams' depth. He played in 15 games last year and finished fifth on the team in special teams' tackles. Six of the Cowboys' seven linebackers from 2018 are under contract for 2019 with Damien Wilson set to hit free agency next week.
After declining to offer the restricted free agent tender, the Cowboys have signed safety Darian Thompson to a one-year deal worth $720,000. Thompson, a former third-round pick of the New York Giants in 2016, was signed off the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad last October and saw most of his action on special teams. The Cowboys like Thompson's athleticism and believe a full year in their offseason program will give him a chance to contribute more on defense
