I wish I could be a Christian

I've pretty much been a deist for the last 5 years or so. I have a feeling (superstition?) that God is real, but I don't believe any of these organized religion assholes. I think God just wants us to be nice and try to live our lives to make the world a better place (even incrementally) IT'S NOT THAT FREAKING COMPLICATED also I don't think there is hell and as for heaven who knows.

I currently suspect that "God" is just the other side of my brain, but I could be wrong. But I like the everyone being nice to each other and making the world a better place part and I wish people could just DO THAT at least.

^that would be wonderful.

Because God said so, Cassie. It's in His book. There most definitely is a Hell and I for one don't want anyone to go there. How else are they going to know if someone doesn't tell them?

Sorry Yub, there are lots of books claiming to be divinely inspired. Unless god comes down here and tells me himself I'll trust my instincts.

Point is, He did. You don't wanna believe, go right ahead, but He's done just that.

^do you believe in reincarnation, Yub?

No. Resurrection, yes.

what do you mean by the word "resurrection"?

Not familiar with the story of Lazarus? Lazarus was dead for a few days, but was brought back by Jesus. Also Jesus himself resurrected.

Reincarnation is a completely different kettle of fish.

Loosely put, reincarnation involves a completely different body, whereas resurrection is the revival or renewing of the dead one. Hence, jokes about Zombie Jesus.

I am familiar with the story. I was curious to know what YOU meant by the word. Thanks for the clarification.

I am now wondering how resurrection could be spun to mean something else.....

Yub, do you read the the bible regularily, and if so, which version?

Yes, the King James, morning and nightly.

Your tone in your first post in this thread was hardly likely to win over any converts.

Yeah.. condescending.

You believe your fairy tales and I'll believe mine.

;)

I should have called this thread something else.

I wish I could be a wizard, a good one like Dumbledore or Sirius Black, not a fruity looking one like Neroon.

Maybe one day it'll just come to you in the middle of the night.

John The Baptist had the spirit of Elijah.

Reincarnation? Thoughts?

Also, I consider myself Christian. But it took more than the book. Lots more.

That's all I'm saying carry on.
