Merlin series 4

Oh, so that's where I recognised her from possibly.

Eggs, if you watch any of Merlin you won't want to see every episode. The makers based it on Smallville to quite an extent, and it's formulaic in exactly the same way. Instead of "oh, there's a new person at school and guess what, they evil", it's "oh, a new person arrives at the castle and guess what, they want to kill Uther for legitimate reasons but must be stopped because he's a main character". It's only the season openers and finales that really advance the plot, up until the latest season (4) where it's fiiinnaaaallly got good and pretty much every episode has been an original and engaging story (but still has time for a scene where it's implied that Merlin regularly sees Arthur naked as part of his job description).

So it was a bit weird that they were doing comic relief stuff with Merlin and Arthur while Camelot was burning and thousands were probably dead. But Arthur's simpleton voice was FUCKING BRILLIANT so I can't complain really.

Morgana looked so hot when she was being evil that I'm expecting Gwaine to turn evil next week and join up with her. I would.

Good episode!

Same. I thought the comedy scenes were a really odd decision, even taking into account that this is Merlin and there must be at least one shot of Merlin or Arthur tripping over in every episode. I thought the scene at the beginning when Arthur forces Merlin to turn his back to him so he can pull something out of his trousers was going to be the only homocomedic scene, but it never stopped. You guys probably didn't notice, but Arthur's manhood played quite a significant role in those tight trousers too. These actors must be getting paid a lot.

Maybe Agrivaine is Morgana's real dad or something? Couldn't blame him for giving into her hotness, but is that all there is to it?

Ceti Eels.

Oh for fuck's sake, Merlin the whole kingdom's being destroyed and you still barely use any magic. That just defies credibility.

Next week: shocking return of the dragon, like there is at the beginning and end of every season!

I hope Aggrivaine doesn't just turn good next week because he's noticed Morgana's evil. He didn't have a problem muredering that kid with the maps last week.

I watched the last two episodes -- I like the chemistry between them, but at the same time I can see what you were saying about not necessarily having to watch every episode. I was thinking, "this is near the end of the 4th season -- how long have they had this relationship of bumbling boy-king and snide servant/confidant who doesn't bother to explore his potential as a magician?"

Arthur asks Merlin to do something, Merlin makes a wisecrack, Arthur threatens to kill/incarcerate Merlin, Merlin ends up getting Arthur out trouble, Arthur calls himself a fool while Merlin looks at him dreamily. Have I just summed up several episodes at once?

Still, I like looking at the two of them. Colin's eyes are intense, and Arthur's an okay beefy blond. I could do worse.

If this show is anything like Smallville, I'm sure they'll Jimmy Olsen it and it will turn out Lancelot has a son also named Lancelot.

SO there were some annoying things about this episode. Like the lack of insight into the Morgnana/Aggrivane relationship. I guess we'll never know what that was all about. Aggravine is dead I guess and Morgana as Queen was only interested in watching Gwaine fight with his shirt off. If this had been Camelot, Morgana and Gwaine would have had sex. But also it wouldn't have been as entertaining a show.

They should have had a flashback or something showing Merlin put the sword in the stone. I KNOW it happened in a previous episode but I can't remember when or why.

Were Isolde's breasts vital to the plan to retake the castle? How did Tristan feel about Arthur after she died? We didn't find out.

Wedding was rushed. Did like that Morgana beat Gwen a fight even without magic, since Morgana rules.

Anyway, still a good episode and the ending was brilliant. Never thought THE CUTE DRAGON would save Morgana. Is it evil? Or is she going to turn good now!? I hope she does!

I was going to say "Morgana is hot" just to get that out of the way at the beginning.

Merlin too, though. Crikey. He let his English accent slip for a second when Agrivaine confronted him. The fact that it stood out just goes to show what a good job he does the rest of the time.

Erm, it was an ok episode. It was probably on a par with any other season finale, but the rest of the season's been so good that I'm sure there have been two or three better episodes than this.

Of course it's just typical that Merlin reveals his powers to someone only for them to die, but I really did think there was a possibility that he could finally tell Arthur as a way to shake things up. It's not like the story can't continue if it happens, because then Arthur and Merlin could become a dynamic duo of sorts.

Tits.

Oh no! A character that was introduced last week and has an ambiguous relationship with another character that was introduced last week has DRAMATICALLY DIED. Stop pouting, Arthur. Your knights die by the dozen every week.

Aww... the mini dragon's sort of cute... kinda.

I must've missed something because I'm not sure why Gaius was at death's door. He was in the castle the whole time, so he didn't do much walking, and the rest of the time he was having a snooze.

Merlin will return... but what about Dr Who?!

(But there would be nothing wrong with thinking Katie McGrath was hotter than Michelle Trachtenberg anyway.)
