I don't go for the "MF vs. TK" dynamic, or the idea that the MF is an island. I post in other fora when it's appropriate. But there just isn't much in SF or GFHH that interests me, I'm not involved in any of those squabbles.

I don't either but I can see why some people say the MF is elitist. For example, the MF'ers seemed very upset that they had to mingle with the Badlands riffraff when Cow merged us into the Minelands, whereas the Badlanders welcomed the MF'ers with open arms.

Well, that's how you see it. I was pissed because the MF and BL are the two biggest fora on the board. It's enough to sift through either, let alone both at once. We share posters, but we also both have our own distinct styles.
I'm not surprised people didn't want them to mix. And I don't buy that all the BLers welcomed the merge with "open arms". That's painting a melodramatic picture of things, IMHO.
I don't call being pissed at the forced merge "elitist". If others see it that way, that's their problem.

You heard of the LA riots? They weren't about Rodney King. That day I was sitting at a crowded intersection waiting for a bunch of people who were crossing the street in both directions. So I flagged down this biker guy and said, "Hey mister, you just dropped your wallet or something." Then I pointed at a gangbanger guy going the other way, "And that dude picked it up."

Yeah don't get me wrong, I love the MF style. Wacky's stories and thing of the day, adorable Sassy Cassie, and TITilllating Tisiphone and her captivating caption job., etc....I feel bad that I end up marking it read or just lurking it most days...its a great forum.
