Ranking every MLB free agent for the 2020 offseason

With MLB free agency open for business, we're ranking all the players on the open market. These free agents are ranked based on the guaranteed money I expect each player will be offered. I say offered rather than each player's projected contract only because of Trevor Bauer, who I'm betting will get offered more than $50 million, perhaps well more than $50 million guaranteed, but I'm thinking he will opt for a one-year deal. I'm sure some other players will make decisions of this sort, but those will be more random and market-driven (hence harder to project now) and much lower-stakes decisions, such as choosing a one-year, $8 million offer instead of two years, $13 million.

The Rockies acquired right-hander Robert Stephenson (made 10 relief appearances for the Reds last season and 59 in 2019.) and minor league outfielder Jameson Hannah (didn't appear in a game in 2020. The Reds acquired him from Oakland in 2019.) from the Reds for right-handed pitchers Jeff Hoffman (went 2-1 with a 9.28 ERA in a career-high 16 relief appearances for Colorado in 2020.) and Case Williams (is a prospect from Castle Rock, Colorado, who was selected by the Rockies in the fourth round of the 2020 first-year player draft.).

Boston Red Sox, lefty Eduardo Rodriguez reach one-year deal, source says
He did not pitch last season after testing positive for COVID-19 in July and later developing myocarditis, a heart condition associated with the disease. In 2019, Rodriguez went 19-6 with a 3.81 ERA in 34 starts.

Pittsburgh Pirates trade Josh Bell to Washington Nationals
The 28-year-old Bell was an All-Star in 2019 following a torrid first half in which he hit .302 with 27 home runs and 84 RBIs. That form has been elusive over the past year-plus, however, as he hit .233 with 10 home runs during an injury-shortened second half of 2019.

Los Angeles Dodgers, Tommy Kahnle reach 2-year, $4.75 million deal, sources say
Kahnle is 9-9 with four saves and a 3.52 ERA in 285 appearances over seven major league seasons.

Detroit Tigers sign RHP Jose Urena to 1-year, $3.25 million deal
The 29-year-old starter spent the past six seasons with the Miami Marlins, compiling a 32-46 record with a 4.60 ERA in 142 games, 98 starts.

Boston Red Sox sign Matt Andriese to $2.1 million, 1-year deal
The 31-year-old Andriese made one start and 15 relief appearances for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, posting a 4.50 ERA. Andriese has been a starter and reliever throughout his career, including during four seasons with AL East-rival Tampa Bay.
