The Braves clinched their sixth straight NL East title, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 on Wednesday night behind Spencer Strider's major league-leading 17th win and Austin Riley's two-run homer.
Orioles, Rays clinch playoff berth with Rangers' loss to Gurdians
The Orioles (93-56) are postseason-bound for the first time since 2016, another benchmark for a successful rebuild fueled by their excellent minor league system. - Tampa Bay (92-59) is in the postseason for the fifth straight year. A playoff berth seemed likely all the way back in April, when the Rays looked dominant in winning their first 13 games.
Republicans propose $614 in public funds for Brewers' stadium upgrades
Under the proposal, the state would give the team $60.8 million next fiscal year and up to $20 million each year after that through 2045-46. The city of Milwaukee would contribute a total of $202 million, and Milwaukee County would kick in $135 million by 2050.
Brewers ' J.C. Mejia suspended 162 games for positive PED test
Mejía, 27, has been on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation since Aug. 15. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Sept. 11.
Mejía was suspended 80 games on May 17, 2022, after his first positive test for Stanozolol, a synthetic steroid derived from testosterone.
NFL, NASCAR, MLB oppose stadium restriction changes
Flight restrictions were first put into place over stadiums following 9/11. Currently, the FAA issues a temporary flight restriction above any stadium or raceway that seats more than 30,000 people from one hour before the event until one hour after, creating a no-fly zone 3,000 feet above and three nautical miles from the center of the stadium.

Braves sweep Cubs to clinch home field through out postseason
Once again, the Braves were powered by the long ball, as first baseman Matt Olson slugged his major league-leading 54th home run and drove in two runs, bringing his season total to 136 to break the franchise record set by Eddie Mathews, who drove in 135 in 1953.
Orioles clinch AL East title with 100 win of season
That chase is now over. Anthony Santander homered, DL Hall worked out of a sixth-inning jam and the Orioles clinched the division championship with a 2-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.

The Texas Rangers came out hot against the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card despite falling to the No. 5 seed on the final day of the regular season, winning the series 2-0 and advancing to play the No. 1-seeded Baltimor Orioles in the ALDS. The AL Central champion Minnesota Twins also swept their wild-card foe, the Toronto Blue Jays, and will take on the reigning World Series champion Houston Asrros in the next round. The Arizona Diamondbacks ousted the Brewers to advance to the NLDS to face the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Philadelphia Phillies dominated the Miami Marlins in front of a raucous home crowd. Philadelphia will take on the top-seeded Atlanta Braves in the division series for the second straight year.
