This is why I like playing chess:
Often a young man will sit down across from me. Before we even have the opening gambit, he'll make assumptions about me because I'm older, female, and ordinary. So, as I play a better defense than offense, I choose to play black. Usually, the young man begins to tell me how to play chess and uses all the right references to well known moves and plans. Being the type of person I am, I'll play along while he tells me why my moves don't fit within the parameters of the game he's decided we will play, then take a bishop, then a rook, both of his knights, and finally his queen, then ask him if I'm doing it right. I especially love it when they challenge me again so they can teach me some more. I'm in heaven at this moment as I just received such a request.
 
That would be your viewpoint and your approach to the world. It isn't mine. I usually enjoy the company of young men when they are bright and intelligent. They are interesting, charming, know how to be respectful without being condescending, and in general are a pleasure to be around. The young man I described above is reasonably intelligent but he is not very bright. He makes assumptions about other people based on his age and sex. I beat him gently because it gives me satisfaction to do a thing well and yet keeps him as a friend for when he does become bright.

Do you never tire of being sour?
 
Had to renew my driver's license today. Couldn't pass the freaking eye exam without wearing the glasses I keep in my purse but hardly ever wear. Now it will be on my license that I have to drive with glasses. I can see mountains and large objects. There is no need to punish me with glasses. I'm not vain. Just trifocals make me dizzy.

Then, the elevator got stuck between floors when I was on my way back to work. Not a good thing for a claustrophobic type individual. I nearly cried before I started shredding the elevator door apart. Fortunately, the cutest and nicest young men came and rescued me.

Well, I don't know about Messy, but I wouldn't be RobL without being sour, nasty, foul mouthed, and otherwise unsocial to everyone around me.

I enjoy getting drunk and watching porn on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Makes me feel important.
