Kevon Looney is exercising his $5.1M NBA option to stay with Golden State Warriors

Kevon Looney is exercising his $5.1 million option to return to the Golden State Warriors next season, his agent Todd Ramasar told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 6-foot-9 big man signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the team before the 2019-20 season. Golden State selected Looney with the 30th overall pick in the 2015 draft after the team won the first of its three recent titles. This season Looney, 25, started 34 of 61 games as he shared time in the starting lineup with rookie James Wiseman.

Philip Anschutz completes sale of 27% stake in Lakers to Dodgers co-owners

Philip Anschutz sold his 27% minority interest in the Los Angeles Lakers to Los Angeles Dodgers co-owners Mark Walter and Todd Boehly in a deal that closed Friday. The transaction was approved by the NBA's board of governors, according to AEG. Anschutz-owned AEG and the Lakers recently announced a 20-year extension to the team's lease at Staples Center. It includes both sides investing in upgrades and improvements to the downtown Los Angeles arena, which the Lakers will continue to call home through 2041. Boehly is co-founder, chairman and CEO of Eldridge, a holding company that invests in businesses involving sports and gaming, media and real estate. He is part-owner of the Dodgers.

Larry Brown named '21 Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award winner by NBCA

Larry Brown, the only coach to win both an NCAA championship and an NBA title, was given the 2021 Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday. Over the past 50 years, Brown has had 14 stops as a head coach -- three as a college coach (UCLA, Kansas, where he won the 1988 national title, and SMU); 10 as an ABA or NBA coach (the Carolina Cougars in the ABA, and the Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets, San Atonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons (where he won the 2004 NBA title), New York Knicks and Charlotte Bobcats. He had a brief stint in Italy with Auxilium Torino in 2018.
