NEW SHOWS

I watched the premiere of APB last night. The commercials made it seem sort of like a futuristic cop show, but it's really just a rich guy who makes tech stuff buys a police district in Chicago, gets the cops really cool gadgets, and they catch bad guys. Not bad for a time waster, but not OMG I GOTTA WATCH THIS.

Superior Donuts is a stale sitcom based on a hit stage play that wastes the talents of Katey Sagal and Judd Hirsch. Sometimes the pilot of a new show is off but the next episode works out the bugs, but in this case, errr not so far.

It's directed by James Burrows (Cheers, Will & Grace, Mary Tyler Moore, Mike & Molly, and Taxi with Judd Hirsch) but the characters don't seem to rise above stereotypes. Maybe it slowly gets better with time...

Episode two of Powerless: Yeah, not any better than episode one. Worse, if anything! Just a standard dumb workplace comedy except they mention DC characters sometimes. Didn't laugh once, though Alan Tudyk's deadpan assitant lady was kind of funny, I guess? I'll watch it ANOTHER TWO EPISODES.

I watched the first episode and found it amusing, but not enough to bother watching any more of it. I don't think it will last very long, though who knows.

Riverdale is one strange show. I'm not sure if it's good or bad yet, and it's trying a bit too hard to be Twin Peaks, right down to the Shelly Johnson.

I'm pretty sure last week Betty and Veronica tried to boil a black guy in a hot tub.

:bill:

Powerless episode 3: Slight improvement over the previous two. A bit funnier (not much, but a bit!) and it used the fact that the show is set in a super hero universe more effectively. Kind of cheap how people from Atlantis just look exactly the same as humans though.
